68 Beam end plate dimensions

I want to narrow my 68 beam to fit my split has anyone got the dimensions to make some end plates.

Be carefull using ball joint beam if you plan on slamming it, You will have -caster with droped spindels, it will ride nice but drive bad. their is a cure for the caster, I found out the hard way.. Kevin

I'm not going that low, just a couple of inches.
I want to use the ball joint beam as I am fitting the later discs from a 74, I want small 5 and its cheaper this way to get discs than staying large 5 and having to buy a new disc set up.

68 beam sideplates have the same bolt pattern as your split.

Yes I know, thats why I am using it.

I would like some drawings with dimensions of the flat end plates that you can buy so I can make my own narrowed beam

According to the drawing, the lower tube is offset to the front by 1/8". If you are worried about caster, add more offset. The offset lays the top tube back as compared to the bottom tube, thus adding caster. Too little caster and the bus will be squirrelly and unstable at speed. Too much caster and the bus will cruise straight ahead at speed, but will steer like a pig at low speeds (parkinglot manuveres). Somebody on thesamba should've figured out the proper tube offset when using aftermarket side plates to lower a balljoint beam.

Are you going to make them yourself or have them cut? I have a .dxf file for the plates that you can give to your machine shop if they are going to be water jet or laser cut.

BTW, I have found that moving the shock mount back a couple inches from where Jeremy has it works better if you are going real low.

I am fitting the stock 74 calipers and rotors to my linkpin beam with a adapter, the only thing I am missing is a seal that will work.

I'm not able to measure those without pulling the beam out of mine and not yet going to pull it either but would be great to get the endplates done...

I have a template for mine but started to think about the thickness needed. I am leaving the inner original metal and just adding the plate over it. Should I go with 3/8" or is 1/4" enough? Don't forget, it will be welded to existing side plates.
