I purchased a CD changer and new speakers for my Ghia. I still have the orginal sapphire radio. So my problem is the radio in mono and not giving me the stereo quality I want.

Does anyone know on an idea or product that will allow me to keep the orginal radio yet get the stereo effect. I want the stock look but also like to hear so music at the same time.

Can I get a product that will fit in the old radio spot without cutting the dash or leave the radio as a "dummy" look.

I really need so advice.

Thanks,
Mike

If the original radio is mono... then mono is all you'll get.

You could mount a second radio in the glove box or somewhere else.

I am running a Becker Europa Stereo unit in the Singlecab. I just made an interface cable so I could plug any device(CD, MP3, MiniDisc) with an 1/8" stereo jack into the head unit. It is very nice to not have to listen to the shit that passes as radio these days. My next project for this install is replacing the stock outboard amp with a bigger unit, an EQ and new speakers. Click on the WWW button in my post to see pictures, they are under radio.

My 6v AM motorola works great for what it is- too bad there is shit to listen to on it. I'm usually too busy listening to the other noises in the car and watching out for the people who are not paying attention to listen to it.

Any body know where I can get the original motorola spaeker re-coned?

My '71 Bug came with a shaft style receiver as I believe all vintage VW's did. If you want a modern DIN receiver you'll either have to cut the dash or mount it in the glovebox or somewhere else.

Got 'em both. Stock Sapphire I hooked up to stock speaker and CD player under the parcel tray. I use them both. CD for music and Sapphire for news and the Dodger games.

I run with a Blaupunkt Accord indash pull-out picnic radio. I will install a deck in the Glove-box. Have been gathering. I built a sealed box with an 8" Punch and put it in an old Suitcase for the luggage compartment. I've got 2 Drive-in Speakers. Will gut them and install Infinity mids for the front. Tweets above the windsheild, 5x7 pates under the rear seat. 200W Extant amp for Woofer. Should be more than enough for a Bug.
