Fabulous tool. After rigging several, unsuccessful devices that did nothing to move the rusted hinge pin, I ordered one of these. WOW! Pushed out the old pin very smoothly. Very-well made. Highly recommended.

I have done several hinge pins with ease with Joey's tool. However, the pin pictured took me a good 45 minutes to get out. The center was so rusted away in the middle that it kept compressing and binding. I couldn't see what was going on inside so I didn't know that was happening. Luckily, it was a late model hinge and I moved the tool back and forth from top to bottom until one half broke free and fell out. Then I could press the other half out with no problem. I don't know how I would have done it without this tool. The rust we have to deal with in Hawaii!

I just took out 6 Bus Hinge Pins in less than 30-45 minutes, WOW what a Great Tool, no way you should ever try this job without this tool.

I then had 7 Bug Doors, "not currently on a bug" that I wanted to take the hinge pins out of, this took a little longer as some of the doors had hinges you couldn't even operate, even though some where a PITA the tool took every single one of them out, all 14. It never messed up a single pin or door.

Again no way you should ever try this job without this tool, it will pay for itself thru the lack of frustration with any other methods, PERIOD.

As I told Joey, he deserves to be a millionaire for providing this tool for every one of us, he will go down in VW history. Very Happy

I couldn't agree more. I've wrecked a few hinges (and doors) over the years trying to slam the pins out. Evil or Very Mad

This tool is the best special VW tool I've ever worked with! Replacing the pins has become a piece of cake! Laughing Dancing

Thanks, Joey!

Very Happy
I've just used my new hinge pin removal tool and what a great piece of kit, sure beats knocking hell out of it with a hammer and punch after warming up with a oxcy acetelene torch. Worth every cent.
Thanks Joey

Got mine the other day. Only took 8 days to get to Australia!
I used it straight away and it pushed them out with ease. Joey has been a real gentleman to do business with.

Well done Joey, I think you have improved on the original tool made by matra.

Regards,

Matt.

Got one of the door pin removal tools from the latest batch. Arrived on time and on schedule.

I am VERY impressed with it.

It pushed out my loose pins with ease, however on a tight, really rusty hinge pin, I reallly had to work it, but it DID come out. Mind you I chose to remove the pins DRY (the pins not the tool) not lubricated per Joey's instructions, as I did not want any oils or anything like that on the primer.

100% happy.

The only problem is now everyone I know wants to borrow it!

Joey, would using a threaded insert to replace the various length pins work

in not having to undo the tool to replace the rod with the next longer pin?

Just release pressure and thread insert in and re-apply pressure. Just a wild

idea that may or may not work, can't tell with out having the tool in hand. Idea

Good idea but the pin has to pivot some as the lever arm travels along an arc as you are tightening the bolt. A threaded insert would remain in a straight line and would bind/bend. I do appreciate any and all suggestions.

I also want to mention that the newest batch of tools is ready for immediate shipment(Jan. 22).

Joey, I know I have emailed you already about my opinion on the hinge pin removal tool but I want other potential buyers to know that not only is the tool the best way to remove hinge pins, but the service you provide backs up the tool equally. Nothing will ever beat a made in the USA tool by someone who not only knows what they are doing, but has a passion for making things right. Not only did I find the tool perfect for removing pins, it does a great job installing them as well. Once I insert the new pin into the hinge, I lightly tapped the pin into the hinge to the knurling of the pin, flipped the tool upside down and used the shortest pin provided and pressed the pin fully into the seat of the hinge. I did not install the threaded pin for a mirror with the tool mostly because I didnt want to put direct pressure on the threads of the pin. It literally took 35 minutes to do all 4 pins, running boards installed. If you are remotely considering buying this essential "right tool for the job" then go for it, you will not regret it. Joey, thanks again for the kind service and prompt emails and a great tool! He accepts Paypal too which made my life easier. Great job! Chad Catalano

Any plans on making a couple to rent out?
I know a lot of you have more than one bus, so it becomes very useful, and or you have the extra cash to spend, but I don't. I just want a mirror so I can drive it legally! Smile
