I like to pay a local shop to give another set of eye balls over the van b4 I do my 3-4 week summer escape,
I have moved since last year & i wanted to hand the local shop a FORMATED check list document with check box
and spots to enter various details eg compress test#, amt of brake pad left,
ya I can make it up my self but being lazy to the core & wanted to stand on the backs of others does anyone have a vw vanagon specific check list doc I can hand over to the local shop to use as a guide for a mech review b4 a trip
if you dont have link dont post here I have searched & if no one has such doc I will create my own from the various threads that have asked similar questions
note this is NOT pre-purchase check list I dont care about body condition
missing knobs, carpet etc
its really just about engine & drive train check list _________________ 89 Westy with TDI AHU 1.9 manual lots of mods

If anyone makes such a list (Idont have one) make sure it includes properly adjusted belts. One bad fitting alternator belt wound up causing 700$ worth of damage (including destroying the expansion tank, other belts, hoses and wires) in the engine compartment.
I'm just saying..... _________________ '87 Wolfsburg Weekender |

So I used the above check list really caught some items
I missed LR axle bolt was not up to torque, a loose coolant hose that was weeping under the clam shell, & a cv boot that was just about off the flange
(it came off when the mech tugged on it ) again ..
compression was 145 dry & 155 when oiled its been those numbers since i got it 5 years ago
So i was curious what oil pressure other 1.9 owner have
I got 18 at idle & 45 at 4000 rpm
a good investment for pre-trip esp that axle bolt cus i do a lot of logging roads & that give me some real grief i'd chew up the axle splines 200km in nowhere land
or the cv boot would allow all sorts good stuff to chew up the cv bearings _________________ 89 Westy with TDI AHU 1.9 manual lots of mods
