I bought a 69 fasty that im turning into a baja. Dont worry this was no pristene car when I got it. I actually saved it from going to the scrap heap. Anyway..... The car had no dash parts on it when I got it so im looking for pics of what a stocker looks like so I can get an idea of what I need for it. I already picked up a new dash pad for it, mainly what I need to see is what holds the dash pad in place on the top and bottom.
Here is a build thread on the car.

| The gauges and handle pretty much hold the dash in place. There are screws that go across the bottom edge and along the windshield edge. The chrome strips cover the screws along the bottom edge. |

Here ya go: .
I have a handle somewhere, if you need one.
If you are going upright, you engine will not cool properly. The air has to come in from the rear, go across the top of the engine, and down and across the lower and out the rear. The system cools the engine faster and more efficient than the dog house style cooling.
If going 1915, use an aftermarket case bored out, drilled and tapped for the rear hanger. Going to need it, especially with going off road. Type one blocks do not have the hanger ability. Without the hanger, the only engine support is the front nose cone, which cannot handle even the weight of the transmission. That is why the transmission must be supported when the engine is removed. _________________ Please consider I am Autistic, so I process information differently and still working on social skills. I appreciate the cooling concern, but look at these pics and you will see I wont have those issues. The back will be open, and I used a torsion from a swingaxle with frame horns and welded in IRS pivot brackets, also the cage will be tied into the rear torsion.

Bad ass build. Inspiring!!!!
Since my wife won't let me replace the 72 square with another car (it's already one car over the line, sweet Jesus, one car over the line) I might have a plan up my sleeve.
And by "plan" I mean "plagiarism".
-ps- do you still have the package tray from the donor car? If it's in decent shape PM me! _________________ 1967 Type 3 Fastback, gathering parts for resto mod - "Stay on Target!"

Sorry I had to use most of the package tray to fix the big holes that someone cut for speakers. _________________ Daryll http://www.azbaja.com P.R.

The 2 main hoops on the roll cage are in and welded. I have been painting the bars before I put them in and all I have to do is go back and touch up the weld joints later. Makes for a lot easier time painting the cage and getting full coverage.

Thanks, I will post up any new pics when I take them. In the process of running the cage through the front bulk head so I can tie in the 10" over linkpin beam to it and make it a roller. Should have pics of that in a few days. _________________ Daryll http://www.azbaja.com P.R.

Mocking up a pattern for the rear fenders, they will be made from sheet metal and welded to the factory fender for better rigidity.

Did you modify a Beetle steering column for this car? Welded the bracket further down the tube? |

Yes an early bug steering lengthened a few inches to fit, then welded the t-3 column mount on. _________________ Daryll http://www.azbaja.com P.R.

The beam is mounted, still have to do a bunch of bracing and make a mount for the rack, but its in there. Time to get the rest of the front suspesion put together. I am going to put stock arms on it for now, 2.5"s down the road when I get some extra$$$$, I already have the rest of the goodies, disc brakes, spindles, wheels & tires. Just gotta get some tubing for the tie rods.

So anyway, We got a little more accomplished today, (myself and Shawn my tube bending guy, he can do it half the time I can and he doesnt waste tubing). Rack is mounted and 90% of the bracing is done up front and the spindles are rebuilt and reenforced. Just need to finish installing the spindles, disc brakes, make the tie rods, and finish the steering shaft and she will be a roller. Then we will do the shock hoops. We have a cold front moving through the phoenix area tomorrow, its only supposed to be 109 for a high so maybe we can get more done than usual.

Well she is officially a roller. All thats left up front suspension wise it to finish the passenger side shock hoop, we ran out of tubing. I also have to rework the steering shaft because I am getting a little binding in the u-joints. Next up is finishing the cage through the back of the car and then I can get on with painting the rest of the body parts.
