|
|
My A box has finally given up on me... no first gear and getting a bit too noisy now. I've got a good, stronger B box which i'm going to put in the A.
Anything I need to know before i go ahead? Nose cone, shiftforks etc?
Thanks Guys, all help much appreciated |

Wish I had a 356A to test for ya Can't help you with the conversion but if it is only first then all of the suspect bits should be accessible by pulling the nose cone - might be easy fix for the A box if you can see what is going on. The #1 syncro is bad to wear in later boxes - assume it is the same for yours.
Like I said, my "A"-fu is weak since I have never owned one ... something I hope to remedy someday. _________________ Beauty is in the eye of the key holder ... |

Does the 59 trans have a double or single front mount? If double, it should just bolt in; if single, you'll need to change the nose cone. If the 56 has the 644 trans, that nose cone should fit, not sure if one from a type 519 (split type) will fit.
It's been a while since I worked on a type 519 644, or 716, but I believe NONE have 1st gear accessable from the nose cone.
