After replacing every piece of the ignition on my 72 bug engine, the albatros still wont run. It did before i replaced it all. Now, i did install petronix electronic ignition, do i have to do some special tuning for this? Im completely lost here...
I did check for power, and everything IS getting power... |

Try points. Change too many things at once and you can't troubleshoot. |

screw that! I've already gone through two sets cause every place has some different condensor or points that ends up frying. Dont doubt me, the last one gave a very very dark smoke... |

if your coils getting power and still no spark then i would say you either have a bad coil, your wireing to your distributer is wrong or you have a bad electronic ignition. |

But why did you get smoke? Did you get smoke just before this project began? Is this the reason for the complete replacement of the system? Have you checked battery voltage? Its possible that if you have tried starting it too much the battery isnt giving enough voltage to the electronic ignition module therefor no start, because the biggest draw(the starter) is using all the juice; nothing left for the little guys(the module)or like guitarcrazee05 said if its not working and its got power the coil or the module are dead. _________________ Be unique, like everyone else.

The condensor had an extra plug on it, it touched after i fought it for an hour trying to have it not, and it smoked my nose out! Also, im getting power clear to the center of the distributor cap. I think i have the wrong rotor. We just ant gettin any spark...everything else checked out... |

i thought you said you had an electronic ignition? you don't use a condensor if you have an electronic ignition, it's all built in. |

he said something about smoke and i asked where it came from, thats why he broght up the condensor. that situation , i belive, is one reason he`s not gonna put points back in the car ever. from what i gather and someone else has suggested it its probably a bad cap or rotor _________________ Be unique, like everyone else.

Don't blame the car....it ran before you fixed it!
There seems to be a little confusion as to when you got smoke.
If this was AFTER the pertronix was installed, my guess is you smoked the pertronix.
If it was before, well then maybe you did something else wrong when you installed the pertronix.
Same cap & rotor? If not, put the old ones back on and see what you get. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

Dur on the whole "electronic dont use condensors"
Yes, it is wired correctly.
The old cap and rotor are MIA, and smoke was before |
