I see. That makes sense. So, is the top on your Westy heavy? Or is it just difficult?
I'm curious to know because I'm a woman too and I'm considering a Westy in a few years when my youngest son is a little older. (He's 5 now.) I'm fairly strong but not very tall.
Of course, there are upgrades and changes you can make to your Westy to make it more functional - like the Dometic fridge. I know there are other options out there. I've seen mention of a few different ones here on The Samba. _________________ ~Annie

Before you give up on the Westy top because of it's weight, look here

I have these on my Westy, and can attest that they make opening and closing the top much easier. _________________ 1985 Westy, 1.9L automatic (Daisy)

no I haven't given up on my Westy. I've found (someone told me) a solution for the back hydraulics that I have problems with. I like the hydraulics for the pop top.
I just don't have the strength to lift the top, I'm 5'7" (but advanced age and even with a stool I can't handle the up. I hang on it to close it. Its not a problem as there is always someone stronger around. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

With a high top, you never have to pop, plus all that extra storage.
