agreed, the only way we'll know is when we know. Hopefully soon. No way are we cutting tunnels where the serial numbers are, now that would be a real problem _________________ Reversed gears for Subaru Transmissions

ok thats alot to think about thanks for all the info to consider.
I guess I would start with getting the engine in and working propperly in the car on the 36 hp trans and then go back with a built trans later. I would just have to be nice to it for a while.
I cant afford to do the whole drive train in one shot.
also a big area of concern for me is the oil pan I need to look into where I can buy the parts necessary to mod it.
any recommendations for the pan?
So in reguards to radiator any pics of what others have done. ( other than air craft engineers)
Thanks _________________ My Build Page http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3852984&highlight=#3852984 |

You need to use Craigslist and find a Type 2 transaxle.
If you can't afford it all now, you can't afford to throw away money on custom parts to fit that 36hp crashbox which won't interchange with later/bigger transaxles, when the splitcase trans quits working after a few miles.
Go pick up this hippie bus for free and swap it for a late bus transaxle.
