Okay, now *I* am confused..
My neighbor has a 3 spoke steering wheel, that had the coarse splines, and has a (IIRC) 311 (or maybe 113?) beginning part number, and it has the cancelling ring underneath.
What is it?
I can get photos, if need be, he wanted me to try and sell it on here anyway...Unfortunately, back in the 70's he let his kids play with it, and they destroyed the outer ring for the horn, but the button itself and the chrome retaining ring, and everything underneath that is okay, though... _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

The one to the left is my -64 Standard wheel and the one to the right is a Barndoor wheel, now sold.
The -64 standard wheel have 48 teeth as stated earlier and fits perfectly on a split steeringcolumn (24 teeth) when the turnsignal canceling ring is removed.

Cheers for that. Mine is def the one on the right.
WORTH? |

If you refere to the 3-spoke wheel in the -53 in your first post that is definitly one like the one to the left. The Barndoor wheels have same hubsize as the Batwing steeringwheels. In other words you can fit a Batwing horn in them.
Dave, your wheel is probably a wheel from a post-56 oval if it have the coarse splining and also the canceling ring.
All I can say about those wheels in the ads in the first post is that both prices are way out of line... They are both with 48 teeth. In other words they are for late standards. (Post-56)...
I paid 50 Euros for mine a few years ago... _________________ ~Kris~

The one in your Oval is August '55 or later. Value with hornpush, around £100-£150 in nice condition. |

Okay, I have the steering wheel in my grubby fat hands, and I got the part number off of it... it is:
#111415651A
It has the VW logo stamped, or embossed inside the hub, as well.
So what year/application is this thing?
Coarse splines,
turn signal canceling ring
rounded circle, with thumb grips. _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story
