Hey guys, made it back from the flats this past weekend Had a blast! The weather was great (Hot) the salt was purfect, and we broke the record! We were going against a 149, and ran a 161 MPH! We had a great celbration in the impound area for about an hour, then we got the bad news Although we beat the record and qualified for a record run, so did a new Honda, running in our same class. They ran over 200MPH Guess we just can't compete with modern factory sponcered technology, and big bucks The highlight of the trip, was finding a special 2 page write-up about my dad in the annual program. It was quite an honor, and my dad was very humbled. This was the 62nd Bonneville Salt Flat meet, and dad has partisipated in 60 of them. If you can get your hands on a copy check it out

Congrats on the 161 MPH and the write-up!
Agreed with John, more pics please.
It's a long haul from FL, but some day we'll visit
Bonneville to see it in person. _________________ ****************************

Congratulations Rodger, and I think 161mph in a vintage car is more substantial than a modern appliance going 200...

Thanks for the pics!
I can only imagine what it's like to be
in a Ghia on the salt with the throttle @ WFO. _________________ ****************************

Thanx John for the link. No one deserves the accolades more. And thanx Rodger for posting this.
Following Larry over the past forty plus years, and now seeing Jim Bradshaw take over the wheel, has been special. And don't worry about the rice rockets, thats why I maintain the running speed history for VW's, so folks will know what you have achieved.

Thanks Burley, and everyone else for the kind words. I'm going up to see dad next week, I'll pass along on your kudos. We're still trying to clean up his shop/yard. Anyone need any VW parts??? Got a few Ghias left, some Bugs and a couple of Manx bodies, even a funny looking high top bus. lots and lots of doors, fenders and glass. I'll try to get some pics. and post'em up.
