Hi Guys,

So after looking at a diagram, I see that there are generally 4 wires coming off the starting battery. I seem to have 4 as well. ( don't count the FAT starting wire)

Please ignore the far right wire as I just added that for my dual battery and I don't list the FAT wire for starting the car. Can anyone tell me what wire set #1 and #2 go to?

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

My inkling/wiring diagram leads to think that #1 is camper accessories for when parked. #2 is to fuse panel and cooling fan. Is that correct? If it is, I am planning to lead wires from wire set #1 to the rear for my auxiliary battery to power them. Is this thinking correct?

I'd like to take the camper accessories and wire them to the auxiliary battery I am putting in. Currently, there is a dual battery in the van, but it was basically an extension of the starting battery since nothing worked if I disconnected the main battery. Seems pointless to me if I can kill both batteries.[/img]

Assuming you have a full Westy kitchen, behind the driver's seat in the aux. battery box there is a stock relay that leads to the fridge etc... (via the small fuse box on the pillar behind the seat, if memory serves). Can you trace either bundle to this stock relay? It would run across the center aisle. When I installed a Yandina isolator, I ran the wire to the starter battery in this same course resulting in 2 connections at the starter terminal (besides the fat starter wire).

Unfortunately, no. The wires head through the sheetmetal under the car and th gas tank blocks me from seeing where they come out. Sad

I'm thinking to just run the wire to the rear and then do the radio mod off the auxiliary power as well. Other than, I'll add a new fuse panel for other accessories as needed. (I don't use many)

If this is anything like my 85, then your #1 wire run up to the dash to power that and the #2 wire runs back to the starter/engine bay.

Thank you. So I assume I can pull off wire set #1, extend it to the auxiliary battery and be just fine to run camper accessories and radio off of it when parked?

I don't think you want to do that. You want to re-feed at the fuse panels for the circuits you want on the Aux battery. If you pull the main dash panel feed off the main battery it may not get the current directly from the alternator. I wouldn't change the stock wiring to the main fuse panel.

If I refeed at the fuse panel, what's to say that the panel will stop taking power from the main battery instead of the auxiliary one? Sorry, I'm new to this type of wiring.

In my Jeep it was plug n play with no camper stuff. Also, my dual battery isn't getting a feed from the main battery when it's turned on. How big is the stock alternator?
