Yes.

There were a number of "Coach built" VWs in the early 40's. Hebmuller was just the most well known.

Here's another.

I wonder what it'll fetch?? Funny it's running on no reserve? I kinda thought that coachbuilts were highly sought after = expensive. Guess I'll just sit back and watch the auction.

He's looking for at least $8k, not sure how much this one would sell for (I'm guessing about that range). They are valuable but they also cost alot of $$ to restore. It's not about how $$ it can be, it's how it's current condition is. Even a $100k Ferrari can be bought for $10k in a basketcase condition.

What you pay for the car is petty cash compared to what you'll spend restoring it. He's pretty vague on what's there and what's missing, and Rometsch parts aren't just sitting around the swapmeets.

It's missing the convertible top frame-- how much is it gonna cost just to find or reproduce just that one item?

Like Nick said, it can be done, but you're gonna wind up married to that car before it's over.

Kubel Nick, that's a sound way to look at it. I'm just surprised it's still as low as it is given it's rarity

It will go up in the last minute. I'm still estimating $6-8k range when ended.

I'm estimating it gets killed unless it's around $8k a day or so before the end

You are correct sir!

The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.
