Didn't cut the housing yet. I'm waiting until I have the new pivot tube and arms... BUT!

I planted my 5/8 shaft non resi Fox shocks in my backyard and these grew in their place Very Happy

AND! I've recently aquired a COMPLETE ecotec with harness, flashed ECU, adapter and all. All I need is a header, air cleaner and a fuel pump to be able to say "I have all my motor stuff". I just need to research which fuel pump I want/need... Air cleaner will most likely be a canister job... if it'll fit.

Fab work has been limited to starting to seal off the front end. TEDIOUS. These will be welded up, seam sealed n' painted from the inside, and slathered with bedliner on the outside.

NEW body trimmed up... mostly anyway... just need to figure some cage/sunroof logistics.

Slowly but surely...

Thats bad ass. Keep it going. I liked you showing what you began with, how you drove it for a few years, and how it is now. That was a cool briefing.

It looks like a fing pumpkin now... I think i'll just paint the fiberglass to match for a season er two... The color isn't my favorite but the paint is pretty clean, an i'd like to be driving already... so... guess we'll see...

Sheet metal progress... Just needs finish welded, seam sealed n' a coat of bedliner...

The panel surrounding the steering was a giant pain in my ass. Pictured, is version 4.0. It took two tries before I hit up my local exhaust shop for a scrap piece of 4in. tubing. (give A&A muffler in Poway a look if you need exhaust work. ) Amazing how fast I made it the FOURTH FING TIME. Rolling Eyes Cool thing is, the bulkhead will seal, and i've got easy access to the bolts on the torque generator for maintenence etc...

Its just a little ol' 2.2. I figure the estimated 170hp and the 33's are more than enough trouble for my 091 anyway... Very Happy

...and thanks for the " Shocked " Bomberbaja.. Laughing

Still pecking away..

I spent A LOT of time fitting the new body today, and other than door mounts, its officially bolted on.

still,
Only visible progress is my spare tire mount. The studs n' lugs are the same size as the ones in my hubs... so when I forget to tighten lugs and sheer the studs two miles from camp, I have some parts to get me home. And both my rear wheel, and front fit under the fiberglass.

So... I'm back to hanging doors again on the car. The subtle changes in how I mounted the body made my hinge mounts worthless... Rolling Eyes f***.
Looks more like a car sitting still in my garage though....

The door hinges are attached to the cage... so, once they are in place, there will be NO sagging. Very Happy

...can't forget to update the Sambians....

So, in an effort to seal off the front end, and to keep the tow strap n' tools contained I came up with this storage box.

Still need to do the outside pieces... but...

Its all tacked together.... just need some latches...
Good enough for a baja bug... just don't dare walk near it with any kind of measuring tools...

Its no Cadillac trunk... but it'll hold the basic tools, a towstrap and some jumper cables just fine...

...just for size reference..
