I just received an order for my fiberglass vents from a guy who bought the German plastic vents for more money and they broke when he tried to install them. Fiberglass seems to be stronger.

Definately. Fiberglass will also last much longer, it won't crack over time like plastic does. I think its awsome, that someone is trying to make a product for VW's that will actually last.....YA HEAR THAT EMPI AND SCAT, MAYBE YALL CAN LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS, hahahaha _________________ 1974 Super Beetle: Custom resto in progress

This is what a buyer said>
"I had obtained a pair from Germany but broke one trying to install it (not any internal reinforcing!) so I am guessing that your units will be much stronger and pliable. I think the trick is to insert the long edge into the slot and then work the other side underneath the window rubber.'
I repeated this to the owner of the fiberglass shop and he said he would replace any that break free of charge.
So I guess I can say they are warrantied.

I guess we will keep making them to order as long as he is in business, then I'll take the molds to someone else.
There is an ad in the classifieds.
I wish someone who bought a pair would post some pics of them painted and installed. Especially if they went with a colour other than off-white.

Hi, Jim -- just got my '71 Super, and just came across this thread. Are these still available, or can another run be made if there's enough interest? The classified ad has been deleted.
Thanks much!

I can get these rear window inside vents for '71 Supers made up if I can get enough people to order them. Mine are intact but crumbling and can be cloned in fiberglass. So who wants a pair? I'll have a better idea on pricing when I have some idea of how many we need. I'm not out to make money but the fiberglass guy is.

A 73 super beetle has a larger rear window and uses small individual vent trims aside the back glass. _________________ Midwest Autosavers, Inc. Crystal Lake, IL |

Are these still available and would you ship to the UK?
And now we can 3d print anything and everything, can someone make a 3d printed version maybe? |
