Here is the disturbing thing. This is the line that almost failed. It appears to have a "factory" bend and it's the original style zinc plated line.
Compare it to the ones Hazetguy posted.

| I think the inside hub area of some drums, varies in diameter. Its not a machined surface. There isnt alot of room for error either |

Although similar, when looked at in the context of being inside a brake drum assembly with associated hardware, that appearance becomes drastically different. _________________

Definitely a good warning. When replacing the braking system on my bus, the old line on the drivers side was a replacement and poorly bent, and was ready to fail also. I just bent mine by hand as well. _________________ -Adam

Thank you. |
Hi
Are the bridging line lengths inside the front drums the same for all years' brakes?
I've ordered a kit of Cunifer lines this afternoon from CSP in Germany for a '67 bus with dual circuit brakes. I checked with them before ordering, and they said that their kit includes two 240mm lines for this purpose.
My truck is a '56 but I'm converting to dual circuit brakes at the same time, hence why I've ordered a set of '67 lines.
Which is the correct length? 240mm or 370mm?
Thanks
Andy |

I took off my front tires this weekend to lube the front end and noticed brake fluid on the inside of the right front tire. Everything looked fine, then I remembered this thread. I found the exact same problem.
The PO ran the line incorrectly. It runs inside the spring and is not held by the clip (arrow).
