Anyone ever try to put dual calipers on there baja, or bug? got the idea from some race cars i saw online, and thought that it wouldn't be a big deal to cut 2 brackets in half, and weld the ends together to have dual calipers. I just happen to have several sets of calipers from random trades, and parts lots over the years. just curious if there would be any pobbible downsides to this? do yall think the master cylinder would be able to operate 4 front calipers and 2 rear calipers (or maybe even 4 rears as well)? or maybe adapt a bigger non-vw mastercylinder to work? any ideas? _________________ 1974 Super Beetle: Custom resto in progress

Im sure it could be done but would it be really necessary? I know it is important to have stopping power on a porsche or a street bike but unless you are rolling something beefy like a 2litre i cant see the usefulness. _________________ 1972 Standard Beetle 1600dp Class 11 Look-alike....SOLD !

I'm building my 74 specifically for hauling my 2000lbs apache mesa pop up camper. (i've pulled it with my 72 super (2085cc motor and front discs) no problem) i have some meaty tires (205's front, and 235's rear), and want to make sure i can stop. the regular discs on my 72 work, but not good enough. so i wanted to try it on my 74 (since it will be solely responsible for hauling the pop up). I am building a turbo motor for it (haven't decided on internals yet, but most likely 2110), with as many longevity mods as i can do (rotating assembly balenced, thermostat and flaps, megasquirt fuel injection, built in netbook sized laptop for tuning on the go and to kepe an eye on gauges, piston squirters, bob hoover's HVX mods, etc.).
anyhoo, just trying to see if anyone has tried it on their baja, and what the results were. i'm just worried that the mastercylinder may be to small to pump enough fluid to 6 or even 8 calipers, which equals 12 to 16 pistons. the rotors i have are drilled, btw. _________________ 1974 Super Beetle: Custom resto in progress

I see...
Well I cant imagine it would be very hard to make a caliper braket that would hold both. Then all you would need is a bigger master cylinder and some kind of "T" adapter for the brake line to send fluid to the extra calipers. _________________ 1972 Standard Beetle 1600dp Class 11 Look-alike....SOLD !
