still no snow, so I cleaned the car today, and most likely this was the last time it was out of the garage before the spring....

Wow, time flies.

Spring is upon me and I have not quite finished my winter project of converting the engine to type-1 cooling and motorcycle throttle bodies, but it is getting close.

Here is a shot of the engine as of yesterday:

Hi Roy,

I thought the previous layout was way cool. Why are you changing to a standard type 1 cooling system? Was it over heating? Or are you just having fun?

Nicholas

Mostly having fun Smile

Jokes aside, the main reason is that I was not happy with the Porsche style cooling. I never had any known overheating problems, but my shroud had no internal vains, nor any thermostat function, so I was unsure of how smart that is... Somehow, I believe the engineers added all this stuff for a reason.

Also because I wanted to test one centrally mounted TB and plenum, back-to-back compared to individual TBs. I dont have the time nor resources to optiminse a runner/plenum design to really take advantage of such a systems potential advantages, so I was keen to see how well I can make individual TBs work compared to what I had.

I also take pleasure in making a set of $90 eBay TBs work as well as a $1000 set of purpose made ones Wink

So I guess we are back to having fun after all Smile

Looks great!

Where are you located in Norway? I will be visiting friends near Trondheim in mid-July.

I am on the coast about 1 hour south of Oslo, so that would be a 6-7 hours drive from Trondheim Smile

What size pipe did you use?

Why did you abandon your thread?
Seems as if you left everyone hanging.
I think it’s time for an update.

The one for the engine compartment is smaller - it fits along the top and only about half-way down the sides. The one for the front should go the entire way around, because water can enter from any side - in the back they want it ti breathe and with the vertical part, it doesn't gather much water there

Wrong. The engine bay seal fits around the bottom and halfway up the sides. The engine bay seal isn't a seal for water - there's like zero engine bays on any car ever made that are sealed for water. The seal goes on the lower half to prevent hot air from the exhaust from getting into the engine bay, since the engine is air cooled. Cool air from the car moving enters the engine bay from the "open" top half. If you're putting the seal on the top half of your engine bay, you're doing your engine no favors.
