ooooooooo it changed hands.
Good to see it will be continiously loved and driven. Not much has changed except the name on the title. _________________ Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

I really like your bus. I remember the CO owner driving daily for years and having his dog in it. Really really nice guy. I was purchasing another nice bus he had and he offered that bus to me years ago. I really wanted it, but I already had two buses and a bug. I didn't need any more VW junk and I would have had to go out to TN. to pick it up. I still had to rethink buying it over and over. It was really great deal. I am glad you guys are out driving and enjoying it. I know it would put a huge smile on the CO owner's face to see that it is up and going. |

I noticed the remnants of a bumper sticker this weekend and used a bit of paint thinner to try to make out what it said. After a little work I was able to see that it said, Motel "Del Bosque". I did a little research and found this.
Pretty cool if it's actually been there. |

I learned the age old lesson of tightening your lugs and double checking them before you hit the road... I lost my front wheel during a small test run. Craziest shit that's happened to me in a while. I ended up with broken glass, bent dogleg, and my head split open from the fresh air vent.

| Thanks Paul. Yeah, it sucks. One thing after another it feels like. I'll be getting it back in the air tonight to see what other, if any, damage I did. I want this thing done! |

It's been a while since I've updated this thread... Over the past year I decided to lower the kombi, then after a month or so decided to raise it back up. Having it lowered didn't feel right to me so I traded the lowering bits for a stock 1965 drivetrain. I also went with 640x15's instead of the 670x15 this time. I like the new tires but I think the 670s fit the look of the bus better. Some pics...
Lowered
Back to stock height. I had to adjust the spring plates 3 times to get it where I wanted it.

Yeah, it's definitely a happier bus stock height. Just got back from Bulli Brigade... Camping in it is great but I regret selling the camping kit I had for it.

I fixed the regret issue and ordered another RJ Campers interior. I went with a 58 Westy(ish) style with the fold down seat backs. I can't wait to get it finished and installed.

I'm one of the few who aren't afraid to talk about lowered buses here. I have to say I'm glad you went stock height with this one. It looks much better with FAT tires under it. Very looking! Keep postin pics! _________________ Anthony
