One of the Luckiest days of my life.
Called an ad for vw parts that was 24 miles from my house. I asked the gentleman if he had any bus parts. He replied, "I have a 61 deluxe that is complete." I said " I will be there tomorrow night". Needless to say I did not sleep a wink.
I walked up to the bus and this is what I saw just before my jaw hit the ground.
I could hardly contain myself - this older gentleman was a VW fanatic and has beetles, buggies and gias. He is passionate about air-cooled vw's, but to my advantage did not like busses. He told me that got the bus in 1983 and was going to take the tranny and RGB out of it to put into a buggy, but he never got around to it. Lucky me.
We talked money, I paid the gentleman and we shook hands. I told him I would be back next week to pick up the bus. I guess I do not have to tell you that that was the longest week of my life. I did not sleep a wink for an entire week.
When I went to get the bus he had put some rollers on it and had hooked it up to his tractor and I got to drive the bus out. I wish you could have seen my face (permasmile)
My plan for the bus is to get it road worthy, change all the window and door seals and roll-it. Can’t wait. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

Because it looks more like a 58 or earlier Deluxe. |

I would have gotten weak in the knees if I stumbled upon a pressed bumper 15 like that. That's a holy grail Bus for me.
I can't wait to see it. You'll need to install a drool guard around it. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.
