Ya but.... then you are sleeping in a tent, the whole reason for buying a bus is so you don't have to sleep in a tent isn't it? Wink

Still on the hunt for a painter in Seattle. I have two leads-see how that plays out.

Beeyatch, you don't need no painter in Seattle. Eugene's not that far. Wink

You've become quite the promiscuous Bay...... owner.

George. If I kicked you in the ass Im bound to paralize you Laughing Even with a bad leg. Then where would I be? Think T34 anyway Wink

I went to look over the 77 hard top. No go for now. to much work needed.

Besides I should be ontop of this one. I do like the rack tents, but I have two drive away ones. Any tent added to any of my buses is for people excess. I sleep in the bus Twisted Evil

Stuart came down from his house today to hang out and help me start in on the 74 Westfalia strip down. We ended up doing several things like the 74, fixing his heat pipe, moving the 76 Prevost, moving the travel trailer, cleaning part of the garage.....dont worry I fed him too Wink because thats alot of stuff. We ended off taking the interior and several VW related items off to our storage where they dont run any risk of getting damaged - like on the floor of an active garage.

Here is ALL the shots if interested

The inside of this bus is super nice with the cloth only being replaced at this point. The plan is to make this a super clean, super stock 1974 Westfalia - just like it was when it sat at the dealer waiting to be bought.

So extra care will be given to pull, clean and restore all of it. Especially all the little bits inside.

This was the first step to restoring the body. Take out the insides, strip out the windows and start body work - welding.

I missed out on the fun today! That's a nice garage you have there Jason. I'm going to have to come out for a visit.
I love the idea of bringing the 74 back to stock. It's nice to have 2 busses and be able to drive one and fix another AND have room to do it in.

Continued with some more of the tear down of the 74 so I can paint her, get her cleaned up and on the road once again.

The floor was the most interesting part of the puzzle. It was in pretty good shape and allowed me to see how Westfalia had done it - with out looking at a trashed example. It did have decay over by the wing window - typical drivers side rear leak. There was evidence of past leaks that thankfully didn't amount to much damage.

The floor has plastic under the carpet! I didnt think they would of done that.

Most the dark spots are collected dirt I haven't cleaned out yet. No holes that are not supposed to be there!

Looks a it different?

Next will be all the rest of the windows - I pulled the front one, headliner, dash front parts.... I want to totally strip it out and not tape off anything so the color will flow and you wont see the difference. As it sits now the OG Pastel White on it is in 3 or 4 different shades of fade from the Texas sun.

I recommend a VW project for everyone - very therapeutic Laughing
