I'm not a huge fan of the "Street Rodded" bug, but this is about as tasteful as I have ever seen. I wish I had more pictures of it.

You guys know of any other that look this good? Post them up.

That is awesome. I that it is not a real car and just a rendering right? Would love to see something like that made. |

When I stared this thread I was kind-of thinking about fendered cars. The non fendered "rat rod" or hot rod style probably has it's own thread they are so "in" right now.

But since we started this talk about renderings. Are you familiar with the Das Speedser? The first image below, was a "rendering" by Hugo Silva.

The owner of the Das Speedster claims on his FB page... "Hugo told me that he did this rendering 3 years ago and people told him that it couldnt be built. LOL it only took 73days of long hours, vision,a talented crew of family and friends and a lot of sweat but Das speedster now lives."

Rendering...

Finished car...

Seems as if Cab's are the way to go

Here are some pics of the Schley Brothers street rod inspired Convertible taken at the VW Classic 2010. Note the Chop Top, color coded and smoothed bodywork, including shaved door handles, pinch seam, trim etc..

Full custom contoured Street Rod interior including power windows, Billet dash pod, A/C etc...

Looks good from any angle...

I know the title says Bugs but this is all I got. I always thought this Ghia was street roddy.

I took this picture at a TN Rod Run in the 90's. My brother stumbled into my picture.

They've got to be. Without that ring, it looks like the fender would have a crisp edge where it meets the ring. |

Doesnt hurt to dream and ask. You can always go down on price but harder to go back up. Keep in mind that there is $13k in new parts and over 2200 hours of shop labor in this car and yes we built it in 73 days, but that is with a team of 5 guys that know what to do and working 12hour days and some days longer,7 days a week. Not recomended, but we had a deadline to meet as it was to be debuted at the HotRod and Restoration show in Indy which is a HRIA/SEMA trade show, we made it there. Wait until you see the next Volksrod to come from the mind of Hugo Silva and into sheetmetal from our shop. |
