It's off the Ford 4.0L Thunderbird motor - not sure if they are identical to the Mustangs.

Mendeola is also Proud to say that we are an official REDLINE / WEBER dealer........ We feel the Redline Weber is the best after market fuel management system on the market......

Congrats! Any recommendations on who knows how to tune the Redline System?
Thanks,

Paradise VW tunes Redline. There is a list of tuners in the 034 efi support forum. I can help if you are in Boise.

Thanks, Steve, for the info. Seems as though Redline (local here in So Cal) does not have a great support/tuner network locally.......unless I am just not finding one. You are correct about VW Paradise. They (Chris Lauffer) will tune it but his quote of $1400 seemed a bit outrageous to me. And by the way when i called Redline it was VW Paradise that they recommended for tuning. I would like it tuned for drivability not like a "1/4-mile drag car" like their cars.
Hind sight being 20/20 I should have followed the engine builder's (Chico at CPR) recommendation to use CB's system.........they would have tuned it for a much smaller fee especially since it would have been bought from them and also would have the support needed going forward. The dual-map idea did not work out well on my car as it's not even taking advantage of the adjustable fuel/air sensors for max efficiency nor the second map like CB's would have.
Kevin, are you installing AND tuning your Redline systems?
Tim

Tim,

I've actually have the newest "self tuning" version of CB's fuel injection system, and while trying to tune this system, I've spent hours on the phone with Mark and Pat with them looking right at my map and I still have a lot of tuning left to make this system a true driving fuel injection. This not to say that Chico does not have a good working map or two for their system.

Now about your question on Redline and if I'm tuning their system, I have had a lot of tuning experience using them on Subaru none turbo engines, I have a few very good maps for them.. As far as turbo Vw cars, I have much less experience then VW Paradice does. I would be willing to spend more time tuning it in the future as currently I far to much on my plate to promise anything in the next couple of months. I would also be willing to swap out the redline system for a CB system, for the cost difference of parts. If interested contact me via PM.

Kevin,
Good to know that it appears that the CB system may have some difficulties too. Talked to Chico the other day and he has had no issues with this system, he's built many motors using it and says that Pat is very helpful when needed.
Ah, your experience is in "non-turbo" Subis only.........as you know mine is a Turbo. Hind sight being 20/20, you installing the Redline System in my car instead of the CB, with a Turbo and not having the knowledge/experience puts me in a search for a Redline Turbo Tuner whom I must now pay quite a bit of money ($1400 in VW Paradise's case) do get it dialed in. What was your original plan for Tuning both maps on my Turbo motor? Yourself? Subbing it out to VW Paradise?
Swapping out the Redline for the CB might be the way to go if you feel your knowledge/experience cannot support the system you installed. I may be willing to do this but at no cost to me as you recommended it and installed it.
That sounds fair to me......how about you?
Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

Actually, there is a lot more to this then I care to bring on here. I do not wish to get into mud slinging about the build on the drive train in your vehicle, or any of its parts. Sure we could go that direction as it is obvious your wiling to, however it will not get us or your vehicle to a better state. I and Mendeola have bent over backwards to make things right between you and us, however every time we think we're finished another list arises. Your beetle is not a "new" car. Even new cars with millions of dollars invested in research and development have issues, and even recalls. In your last email to me there was yet another list. I have offered on here to give you more free tuning as I have driven your car well over a 100 miles in one day without any issues. We also ran it down the strip at Irwindale and the car put down respectable times. The tune that your complaining about actually runs pretty good as I remember. I think that when you took it to the tuner up in your area they may have made some poor changes. If I remember right your car blew a valve cover gasket on the Dyno and they were un-able to complete their work. Also they agreed to give you credit toward future tuning for the mistakes they made, and they like VW Paradise are Redline system tuners.

At this point the best I can do for you, is to offer a final tuning session on my personal time when I can fit it into the schedule, or I will look into swapping out the Redline system for a CB System. If we change out the system, I hope that you can have Chico tune it for you, as I have had nothing but issues with the latest generation of their system. I think with his vast knowledge of their systems, he and Pat may be able to give you what your looking for.

Please before you make a choice to swap over to CB and possibly end up un-happy again. Look around for feed back from people on both systems, not the dealers selling either. Just the end users like myself who have used both.

Please do not high jack this thread with fuel injection discussion, this is a Mendeola Suspension thread. Maybe start a thread asking opinions and advise about both systems.

Thanks in advance for your respect of this thread.

Do you fabricate that mount for the dash mount steering column or is that a weld on unit available from the manufacturer?

Kevin,

Ok, I still have a question regarding the steering shaft for the S2 front end. Are you using an existing part (super beetle???) or are you fabbing the shaft? If you're fabbing them, can you give me an idea of what parts I'll need to create my own or what it would cost to have you make one for me? I'm getting very close to installing my setup and I'd like to be able to steer my car in the garage without having to push on the front tires to change directions, lol.

We have done both. The super beetle shaft option is the easiest way to go.
