No more progress... I actually sold the bus in June to buy another Squareback. Here are some pictures of the bus just before I sold it after more buffing/cleaning/painting:
The buyer is local and is doing a full, back to stock resto on the bus. I'm picking up a new 69 Square on Friday! _________________ '67 Squareback

Hmmm...Looks really nice! Why did you not like the bus as much as a squareback? |

My prior Squareback - as a project - was done. It was just how I wanted it and only needed a few minor improvements to be exactly how I wanted it. I bought the bus thinking I was going to go camping all the time, but when it came down to it I found myself driving other cars to camp - and the bus just sat.
Maybe it was because it needed some rust work/major interior overhaul, or maybe I just liked having a fast, low Squareback more. My Squareback was dialed in with a big motor, carbs, nice interior, etc... Making a change from that to the bus really made me appreciate my Square (that I had just sold) so much more.
Here was my OG paint Peru Green 68 Square at the classic a couple years ago:
And here's the new, OG paint Savannah Beige 68 Square I'm picking up on Friday!

Do you happen to know where Santa found the basketweave seat upholstery? Or was it just covers?
I needs some in brown for the front seats of my '79 transporter... _________________ John

oh man this is like my dream west, with blue seats on blue paint. Love it.
Do you know if the new owner is planning to repaint it? original paint looks pretty good to say the least.. _________________ Also, vanagons! |

The basketweave seat upholstery came from TMI. _________________ '67 Squareback

The new owner, to the best of my knowledge, is fixing all the rust on the car and repainting it in the original neptune blue. _________________ '67 Squareback
