You guys do know...that there are at least 25 different part #'s for these right? They were used on virtually every European watercooled car through the 70's and into the 90's.
That being said there is a huge range of variations and some may be quite difficult. Some are adjustable, some not. Some have larger or smaller inlets and outlets. Some have different size heaters for different time factors. Some have engineered bleed holes and notches in the sliding plate.
The big point being that you should also check for usable part #'s in Mercedes, Volvo, Saab, Audi, Skoda, Seat etc. Ray |
Don't forget Datsun, Nissan, Isuzu plus a few other Japanese makes and Alpha Romeo too. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Two years later - I still see them advertised at Bus Depot for ~80 $ |
That's because we have them again, as of last week. I found a fuel injection parts distributor that had some leftover inventory. They are brand new Bosch units. Availability is limited to supply on hand.

Hey - thanks for the tips on aux air regulators!
Turns out mine is fine. I figured out the issue when I took a drive and found the brakes to be on manual...
.... therefore it was clear I blew the vacuum assist to the master cyclinder behind the firewall - so that was why my bus was hard starting, and racing and not idling etc, with no help for the air idle screw!
cheers |

In 2007 I bought one of the remanufactured AARs from JC Whip-me. I don't know if I didn't see it back then or just that I didn't know any better, but the casing is all bent. Also the last number in the part number is scratched out so i wonder if this is a ...107 instead of a ...101. I don't want to put this back on after my rebuild. It looks like it will leak like a sieve.

Im looking for the 13 mm ID hose that goes from the AAR to the Intake Plenium. Mine has succumn to age I believe, as its leaking some liquid (oil). |
If that is indeed oil leaking there is some other problem to track down - I could be wrong but I doubt there should ever be anything other than air going through there.
Check the rubber elbow as well, it may be more to blame than the 13mm hose. _________________ 1981 Vanagon, Aircooled 2.0 AFC
