Man, I just found out that my engine code HO571905 is supposed to be a 1967 1500cc, not the 1600dp like the PO told me. Of course, that's assuming no one has modified it.
And yes, I've got the 009 distributor. I've seen some articles mentioning sealing off the hole in the throttle plate with solder for better performance. Is this something you guys would recommend?
Oh, and I might not have been completely clear about my problem. I'm not leaking fuel at the throttle bushings, I've got a vacuum leak. So apparently the engine runs so lean off the choke that it just won't run.

I got the bushings out of my carb and I've given it to a guy I know at a machine shop to see if he can rebush it properly. But after reading some of the reviews on the Empi carburetors I don't even know if I want it anymore. All I can do is wait and see for now.

I learned a hard lesson, twice now. Better to have a rebuilt German Solex. Stay away from the Euromax that Cip1 sells. The bowl on mine kept emptying itself out, and the gas would drip constantly off of the throttle shaft. Keifernet tells me that he has seen this problem a lot on these new carbs. Too bad Cip1 doesn't have a return policy. I feel like I was robbed by a 3-handed politician.

well its quite possible someone put dp heads and intake on that motor.its quite easy and no machining needed. easiest way to tell is if you have a three-part intake (two end castings connected to the center section by two rubber boots)which is dp, or it will be one continuous intake which is sp.

there's no telling how many hands have been changing things on the car. that is one of the reasons several of us have asked what carburetor and distributor you have, looking for specific models ie 34 pict-3 which is the stock carb for a dp. or 30 Pict-1/30 Pict-2 which either could have been original for a 67 sp. a stock carburetor for a sp is significantly different then a carburetor for a dp.
EDIT:I should mention there are several other carbs that also fit on the sp intake.

something I think Sean and I can unquestionably agree on....no. I would suggest first getting your carb back, tuned, and see how you like the setup as is. if its a little off perhaps talk to Sean, defender of the industrial 009, Dancing for suggestions. but if in the end you are unhappy with it, let us know and I'm sure we can steer you in the right direction.

was perfectly clear to me what you ment. if it were too much fuel, there would have been additional signs/issues.

It is a 3 piece intake, so that means it's a dual port. So it is likely I was informed correctly about the displacement also. That makes me feel a little better. I don't like to be misinformed, especially on purpose. Thanks for the info.

I couldn't (can't) afford a new carbbie. So when I found the throttle shaft bushing leaking on mine, I looked for new bushings. There is a spot on ebay where someone sells them. I checked around with people who used them and found they were inconsistent in fit. They either had to drill out the carb body or they didn't fit the shaft correctly. I played around and came up with a method that so far is working well for me, although many people here have criticized it.

Do NOT believe what the PO told you. Odds are high it was incorrect information, not always to deceive but often in simple lack of knowledge.

Ugh, I bought one of these, same issue, took carb off, removed top plate, watched bottom get wet, no obvious signs of leakage....damn
