Score! Nice Bus.
Do you have any plans to sell the old interior panels? Please PM me if so. |
And if he passes, I'm interested as well. |

Pat does awesome work! Your engine looks great.
Who's is doing your paint work? Is Ed's I'm Loveland mixing your paint? Did you do factory colors on your wheels? I have to do my wheels and bumpers soon and want to get the correct match for when it come time . |
Yes,
Ed's has been mixing my paint. The wheels are Silver White. They had a hard time finding L82, and found an alternate of LS002 Spectramaster Light Neutral. As far as I know its the same mix. If you are interested I can send you the mix info.

I've been working on the interior a bit more while waiting for the my 914 to get back from body and paint. I think it is turning out pretty good. I still have some details to work out, and some tweaking.
While out chasing parts today, the tranny gave out. Luckily, Pat from Vee W Unlimited just happened to be across the street on a coffee run, and was able to get it to the shop, and jumped right on it.
Also, trying out a homebrew linear actuator for a 19" LED tv.

Thanks Mike,
I was on my way to show it to you when the trans crapped out. I'll bring it by when Pat gets it back on the road.

I've been continuing to work on the interior. It still needs some tweeking, but overall I think it's looking pretty good.

Without a doubt the best home brew I've seen in a very long time. It's not all crazy colors like most people do, which gives the impression its, at the very least, a plausable period camper.
Man jackpot on this whole scenario....It was a camper, so nobodies going to moan about adding the interior and nobody cares about this model of camper so you're free to build it how you like.
Really stoaked for you |

Thanks. My plan is to pay homage to the vans’ history. I think the interior is pretty close to what it might or could have looked like in the past, while touching on Volkswagen style cues. I also made sure not to butcher anything, so it can be turned back to stock with a minimal amount of work.
It does feel a little weird to do all this work without attending to the metal work first, but I can’t swing a full restoration at this time. So, for now it will have to be a pretty nice driver. |

Nice work. I missed the last few updates. So does the house car registration still apply? House car means passengers can drink in the back and cops need a warrant to search (not that I would expect you'd have anything to hide anyway ) |

Interesting thought. But, I doubt the registration would still apply. |

I thought this was an urban legend. Even if it's true, the cops would hassle you relentlessly. One more excuse to pull you over |

At least in Oregon, that does still apply for RV's. So long as it's fully self contained (toilet and kitchen of some sorts). Yep, theres the advantage of being able to drink in the back, but the disadvantage is you get different plates that designate it as an RV and then all the parking regulation crap comes into play. Most places you can only park on the street for a matter of hours or at most a few days. So if you find your self needing to park on the street for a few days, it's not good to have the RV specific plates. |

Installed the door panels, made some pillows, and got the TV working. I also forgot to post what I found in the gas tank when I cleaned it out before I restored it.
I was planning on taking it down to Texas for the Classic, but decided not to risk breaking in the motor and trans on a maiden road trip. Luckily I didn’t as the driver side reduction box started making noises yesterday.

Wow a Bridled Long-tailed weasel! The question is, what was he going after in the tank? Not a gerbil, so no Richard Gere jokes necessary here.
Camper is looking great! How many square inches/feet of Dynamat did you need to use? I am ready to start my camper interior rebuild on my 65 EZ Camper that was gutted a long time ago. |

I used two boxes of the Dynamat Extreme Trunk kits to cover the luggage compartment and the front nose and doors. I also went the cheapo route, and used the some self adhesive roof flashing on the inside of the panels. I also ordered a 75' roll of radiant barrier from Home Depot.

It made a big difference. |
