Also some Marine Stores may haave used stove/ovens for sale. I'd think the high top would suit you very well and oh the space you'd have!

If your GL still has the tracks in the floor area for the middle seat, certainly you could fashion some anchors that would attach to the same tracks the seat bolted into. That track is very close to 1.5" "C" channel. There's thousands of hardware bits for almost any application you can think of made for C channel. If the tracks in the van are not the right size, you could swap them out with something more versatile, bolted down like the original one.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/Se...SEARCH+ALL

My truck bed has similar tracks around three sides, the "Spring nuts" can be used to bolt about anything there.

tons of old tow behind & truck campers had/have smaller sized oven/stove units.

here's a shot of my brother's interior he did custom from 3/4" plywood.
RV furnace, 110vt mini-micro and modified RV magic chef oven unit. very cozy

Seeing that nifty little oven, I suddenly find myself wondering if the Coleman 'Stove Top' oven I bought a long time ago for Winston--which was a hair too big--might be shrunk enough for use by clever metallurgy.

I'll have to investigate. Biscuits, pie, or a proper reheat have their allure.

Best!

Since I'm looking to build a camper out of a tin-top, I'm looking more into the reimo pilzdach. They are still listed on their website at about 1100 euro (~$1500) and I hear import fees are tremendous! Is there still interest in them if I do decide to import one? Cost could be up there with shipping and fees FYI.

I know where there is a repro complete SO42 mushroom style roof(English Company) that is already stateside. IIRC, he wanted what he was into it, about $2500. That price was too much for my friend who was looking to add one to his Hafliger. It may still be available....

I put an asi on my syncro. Very little structure was needed as the hole was cut between the roof top structural members. Stick to that design parameter and the popup part becomes a cork. I have pictures in my build thread.

I too am building a custom interior. Please share your design ideas when you are ready or as appropriate.

for stealth, you need a plumber's van - add signage saying "24 Hour Emergency Response" on it

but ask how you'd like someone camping in your own neighborhood first

Wouldn't care at all as long as they're good people and don't trash the place.

areas are designated R-1, R-16, etc. for a reason - if lots of people are camping on the streets that causes problems, not to mention the tax base issues

Mercedes makes one, its called a sprinter Wink

In 3 years I spent 400 nights or so in my westy, never had a problem anywhere, as others have mentioned, just be courteous and move around each night or every couple nights.

Why would they camp in my neighborhood when they could camp at the foot of teton national park for free a few miles up the road?

But the C pillar completely with no reinforcement? Shocked Shocked Shocked
I know that is probably a trailer queen, but I think I'd reinforce that area. A rollover would be disasterous for anyone in the back.

There's added bracing in the roof and the hatch is welded shut. I'd say they thought about structure enough. The body has to be as strong and safe as a single cab.

I want to use these for tie downs, just haven't gotten organized to order them yet...It is what we uses for wheelchairs in Vans years ago. No idea what they do now.

http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/category/VersaTieTrackKits

And, for stealth, I think a hightop is the only way to go.

Also, are you *sure* you need, want and will use a built in kitchen? I *had* to have one and have only used it a few times, prefer to be outside and it's always so cramped inside.

But you don't carry passengers in the back of a single cab.

To be clear, I meant that I'd have a brace going side to side to connect or I guess mimic the C pillar, just like Westphalia did. I see that they did brace the roof and I assume the rear hatch is welded up as a reinforcement measure.
