Hopefully we can get more VIN number logged on the registry. Please provided Vin and the manufacture date. Make sure you tell me which Model CE 1 CE2 or CE2 Westy. I would also like the Zip where it is if possible. I would like to make a map once i get more entrys and i think it would be cool to see where they ended up over the years. If you dont like or have Facebook feel free to message me here. |

Is thread necromancy frowned upon?
Well I have info on 2 CE's today.
I sold a 78 CE II last year, I just happened to stumble across the registration paperwork at my office today.
I recall the build date of 1/78 on the door jamb sticker. Unfortunately, I don't know if that's the complete build date or the incomplete build date. The last 6 of it's VIN are 081246. It now resides near Midwest City, OK as far as I know.
My current bus, also a 78 CE II, has a completed build date of 3/78. Last 6 of it's VIN are 112242. It lives in Tulsa, OK.
No incomplete build date, just one manufacture date. I guess it was all assembled in one month? why does every body else have 2 build dates?
And Oklahoma is a stand your ground state, so don't even think about coming to steal my bus. It's in the back yard and we will kill you. _________________ -Tony

Only Westys have two dates. VW date is the early one and Westfalia completion the next. |

That is very sharp good job. That the first VIN sticker i have seen with the same month on both dates. Normally they have been a month apart. |

My father owned a 1978 Westfalia Camper in champagne, California blue plate 420VOP. He was the second owner until around 1990 and sold it to a dentist in the Glendale/ Burbank area who drove it around the country. Chrome bumpers, plaid interior, pop top, tire was not mounted in front. He has the VIN somewhere I will come back with it when I find it. It could be anywhere after leaving the state. |

Hey all...I just stumbled on this thread. I purchased a '78 Champagne about a month ago. Here's a couple pics, I'll post the M-plate and VIN when I get a chance.
Cheers![/img] _________________ On the lookout for a Beetle |

I just got a 78 CE II, SN 113322 with a date of 04/78. I'll post pictures soon (once I figure out how to get them off my iPhone onto here). It's a very solid transporter, nearly all original, very straight and solid. The only rust/bondo I found was under the battery and the mid dirver's side window. |
