I'm thinking it's time for me to start looking for a rebuilt throttle body for my stock Digifant motor. Does anyone have good/bad experience they can relate about which vendor they bought from and how it's worked out? Reading websites from at least four vendors seems to show that they are all doing their own work with various styles of throttle plate material, bored housing, various coatings, bearings, shims and o-rings. Thanks.

I have experience with:

Van Cafe
RJE
Go Westy
And my own version after seeing all the others.
All good and done the same as I can tell.
The bore of two are larger and that means you need a larger vane and tight seal to take advantage of any performance gains Laughing

Get a VSM from whomever you choose, it helps smooth things out even more

I have been looking into getting one of these as well as my original has over 125k miles on it. There is a very wide price range. Any reason not to go with the cheapest? I really wouldn't have expected that to be GoWesty...

GoWesty $250: http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23904&category_id=&category_parent_id=

Rocky Jennings $270: http://www.rockyjennings.com/WBX%20Vanagon.htm

Vanistan $300: http://www.vanistan.com/other_accessories.html

Van Cafe $365: http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_1131_1324/rebuilt-throttle-body.html

Looks like the GoWesty has a reconditioned throttle switch included..and at a lower price. Add in the GoBucks deal and that is a good purchase

GoWesty has a steep core charge compared to VC and Rocky. Vanistan does not mention a core charge.

I bought the GoWesty rebuilt throttle body. One of the best things I ever did. Engine ran and idled like new. Prompt return on the core charge.

Well I just ordered one from GoWesty, don't want them to see this thread and jack the price up. I've had a bit of off idle hesitation, hopefully this will clear that up.

I bought a rebuilt from Van Cafe several years ago. My mechanic told me it looked like beautiful work, and it solved my high idle problem and my van has run great ever since.

I finally installed the GoWesty Rebuilt Throttle Body I purchased in Dec. The old one came out pretty easily and the old seal was no longer soft rubber, more of a 25 yr old hard plastic. Installing the new one required using the cruise control linkage off the old one. The TPS wiring bracket also had to be widened to accept the new plug.

Getting the new one on took some force to get the screws started as the new gasket was so much larger than the old and needed to be compressed down. Fired right up afterwards and the idle is noticeably a little lower and the pedal has much less resistance due to the smooth new spring action. No more off idle hesitation.

I definitely recommend doing this. Much easier to install than I expected and once you feel how stiff and not smooth the old throttle body bearing & spring is you really appreciate the quality of the new one.

I have sold complete 2.1 management that owners put on to a 1.9 just for this reason.

One of the strongest running WBX engines I have is this configuration and no BS double switches to deal with creating a funky idle.
