|
| New Member, Hoping someone can help. On my '68 Bay, The turn signals operate correctly, when I turn the headlights on, the drivers side rear stops flashing, and burns solid very brightly... The front flashes as normal. The passenger side operates normally with or with out the headlights on. I have tried a direct ground to the battery from the drivers side rear light socket, but that has no effect. I removed the lamp, and it is a dual element, and is inserted correctly.... thoughts? Thank You! |

Make sure the bulb is installed right.
Should be an 1157
Note the two filament wires in the bulb:
The one that is much thicker. Is the turn-brake light filament.
The thinner one is the tail light filament.
Sometimes the connector inside the light bulb socket gets twisted.
Good Luck

If the wires to the bulb were reversed (i.e. turn sig./brake wire to the taillight post, and vice versa, turning on the headlights would
turn on the brighter filiment, and the other one might still be flashing, but not be noticeable. This is a very common mishap, and an easy fix. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities

I got it,..... it was a combination of the Wires being hooked up backward on the lamp socket, and a bad ground connection.

There's nothing quite like figuring your turn signal issues. Every time my are blinking the last couple weeks, I still smile with pride. I only had brake lights when I found him last year. Literally, no other lights anywhere. _________________ 1970 7 Pass/Riviera/Westfalia - Ours

| I had a time with my '70. I was tired of using hand signals. After hours of futsing with it, turned out to be a bad ground, on the drivers side tail light, and a flasher relay. |
