This one came apart.

This is the gremlins's nest. The eggs are scattered inside.

Well, I had some time to play around some this afternoon. I pulled the ground strap from the transaxle and it was not looking too pretty.

Got it all cleaned up and reconnected. I fired the engine and everything seemed to be normal again. I was actually able to use the horn and it didn't stay on. Started playing with everything to make sure it functioned fine. I was doing good till I moved the heating levers. The wipers came on and stayed on.

Pulled the steering wheel to open the dash up and see what was going on with the wiring back there. It seems there is an issue somewhere behind the fuse box. Ran out of time but plan on pulling the box tomorrow to see what is happening.

OK the heat levers don't have any electrical component to them except for the one that controls the volume of air, that one has a contact at the full travel end that turns on the booster in the engine compartment. There is also the light that lights up the control legend.

So most likely when you moved the levers the lever arms and/or cables behind the dash (which are metal) are making contact with some loose wiring and making connections they should not.

I would stick my head underneath the dash and move the levers and see what's contacting what.

Exactly what I did. It seems like the levers were moving a few wires. Once I opened everything up I could get a hold of the wires that go to the wiper motor and when I moved them I could here a connection being made behind the fuse box and the would shut off. Sounds like something is loose back there. Going to pull the fuse box tomorrow and have a look.

Got an idea. Pull one fuse at a time and see if the problem goes away. That way we will know which circuit it is in.

Actually tried that and it didn't have any affect on the wipers. They still stayed on.

I pulled the fuse box and went through all the connection to make sure there wasn't any loose or corrosion. When everything checked out ok, I pulled the relay for the wipers and noticed a few drops of water come out. I opened it up and it had a lot of moisture in it.

I installed a new windshield seal last month and found some holes in the channel that I fixed before I put the windshield back in. Looks like the moisture finally got to the point of corroding the connections in the relay. Shouldn;t have that problem again.
