Todd you might want to take your so 34 back to Volkswagen it sounds defective they should fix it for you I think. I am 6'0'' and driving it definatley doesn't suck |
Kris, I think you are just in that "honeymoon" phase with your flipseat...LOL Just give it some time and do some real long trips it will get your neck aching just like it does after a couple years of marriage!
I could be wrong though, maybe that bay window plaid makes the front seat more comfortable or something? Possible you are just on the 6ft side of 5ft and round up? Just kidding JUST KIDDING!
Anyhow, let me rephrase my original statement...driving the so-34 is not as comfortable for me then driving my so-23 or so-33 which have a much more comfortable and spacious front seat then the flippers do. have had a couple other flip seat owners and folks that have drivien them mention the same thing. Just take a look at the damn thing...it ain't the world's most ergonomically designed seat!
Anyhow...shame on us for soiling up the so-33 thread with this flipseat chatter...so ummm so-33s rock..GO TEAM! _________________ Samba Member #95 |

HE he he sissies, I leave the back part of the seat unlocked maybe that helps? Also didn't put that little dip in the seat= more cozy, 6' and trim as a mo fo . maybe we should all just get panel conversions instead

That’s stunning!!, I’d love to see the pictures in bigger format.
It’s more like what my SO34 should be like.

I just got a so22 seats. No foam or horsehair pad. I don’t know exactly what I should use on top of the springs, what the original material was. Also I want to know the measure of the seat, how tall it is. If anybody has some information I would really appreciate |

you can go by the pictures from 77ducci earlier in this topic, count the floor ribs where the closet is on, measure it in your bus, and then you have an approx from the length for example
..or even put a ruler on your pc screen if you know the pc screen to real life aspect ration with the above |

Depending how much of a purist you are might want to lose the springs all together and just go with a comfortable foam. A lot of people that still have the springs end up using a mattress topper type of foam on top of the foam cushions themselves for a more comfortable nights sleep.
Speaking of sleep my so22/33 is having a nap but hit me up in a few months and I can get some measurements if someone hasn't already chimed in |

| Now the harder question, anyone know how to distinguish between a Moaiac SO-33 interior and a m-code SO-33? I don't. Also Geoff did you say yours did not have the mirror or did? |
Reviving an old thread I just came across... I was surprised no one had answered this.
Mosaic = the closet, cabinet, icebox etc all clip in.
M-Code SO33 = everything is screwed & bolted in. There is also a copper drain tube from the icebox that goes through the luggage tray panel and gas tank shelf panel to the outside.
I have an M-coded April '64 SO33 that I've owned since 1997. It was Tourist Delivery to Belgium. I'm pretty sure every M-Coded SO33 I've ever seen were Tourist Delivery.
I did a big cosmetic overhaul on it last year and am now in the middle of a complete mechanical restoration this year.. I need to get a thread started on that!
