Some of you folks have seen this bus but since it belongs to my friend and he doesn't post here, I felt I should post it up. This is the 1966 Parris Valley Camper's single cab, the only one they ever made. It was custom made for the original owner of the bus circa 1968. My friend got the bus and made it a driver around 1994, I believe he paid 800 bucks for it. It is a very cool camper with some fun things that were done to make it into what you see. The truck had 2 treasure chest doors and the camper company told the owner he needed to go get the bed cut for the conversion so he did and then the camper company built the camper on the bus. The pics show what had to be done to make the conversion and I feel it is about the cleanest camper vw bus I have ever seen. Its a gem and I'm trying to convince my buddy to follow us to octo and the Blackstar event later this year so more people get to see it. Enjoy

I saw that truck in Michigan in 2004:
It looked like a clean original paint bus at the time. |

Quite like the look, but I don't get why they cut the ends off of the side gate latches off, rather than unbolting and removing them? _________________ Andy

Sweet! Did you meet the owner Mike? He recently built a home here in Prescott and is now one of the cool bus owners I know. He has built many buses bitd but this is the keeper. He went to Paris Valley Camper and the man that built it was still there and remembered building it. He said the owner brought in the truck and they had to custom build it during the slow part of the year when they didn't have other stock builds going on. You could buy one of the Datsun truck conversions from them but not a VW. Unfortunately my buddy didn't get any pics at the time and the next time he tried contacting the company it had closed its doors for good! But the name of the guy that built it was Mack and he had worked at the camper company for many years. I was very happy to have the bus show up at my house yesterday because I had only seen it at local shows. It is quite a crowd drawing piece so I never got a good look at it because I kept seeing all these people constantly asking to look inside it. I don't feel it is my right to go traipsing through the mans bus so yesterday was my first chance to see the insides and get some good pics. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. Probably not, but I can't recall for certain. I'm usually pretty shy so I most likely just snapped some pictures and went back to dig through the swap meet.
I remember thinking it was neat how little hackage was done and how nice the truck was overall. |

sweet ride! I'd never do the conversion, but I sure as hell would drive it if I had it.
So surprised it hasn't sandwiched in the middle with that much of the center missing. |

I love the felt flags. I was going to say this bus or its owner must have spent some time in Michigan. I've been to Frankenmuth, and it's like being in der fatherland! |

Mike used to live on the West side of Michigan. He would drive that thing to most of the local shows. |

For the record it is "Perris". Pretty cool that one could order such a one-off build of that quality. And it has been pampered for its whole life. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon
