Here's what he's talking about for side impact protection:
Of course...these days, all of my Photobucket links, including old links, are producing a note that says "Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen." The link is then slow to open.
I don't know what's up or whether the issue is Samba's, or Photobucket's. _________________ Richard

Can't catch a break. While making a policy change with geico today, I inquired about full coverage for my soon to be on the road rail. The hartford sent info to carfax calling it totaled, and now geico will not cover even liability. EFF em all, will go thru the process of applying for a 2017 spec con with the hgwy patrol. Did it once, will do it again. |

best of luck with the re-register-ing of the buggy! Everything you've done has been better than the first go-round, what's to worry about doing that over other than time, eh? My front end is in town on the oops truck, I can't wait for the delivery! _________________ 4 seater Appletree buggy, road legal with 002 IRS, 3x3 Appletree kit, 6" over Dan's beam with 10" towers and Fox 2.0 shocks, '00 Subaru EJ25 with KEP stage 3 clutch and KEP adapter plate.

I feel an entertaining summer coming on. I won't clutter your thread with my pics but check my thread to see my progress. I think we're about tied right now. You'll pull ahead because you work faster, but we'll both be done early summer I think. I know there's another guy by us too, we'll have to go for a bash. _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

With some of the parts I bought of CBECK hope to have mine rolling by early summer too. Strip and paint will have to wait for next winter project. |

I have missed a lot of work lately because of all the rain. Doesn't rain in the garage. For years I have wanted to do the great river road buggy ride they do every fall. So, I got the right side done and a good start on the left. Tried to set the top bar inside just past flush with the inside of the bottom bar, 3*.

I think it is held by the great river road buggy club of alton,il. Usually held in late sept, early oct. They start at ropers regal beagle in alton. Do a couple ferry crossings. I have also heard some of the bars they stop at bring in xtra help for the event. Saw a video from several years ago and looked like 20 plus buggies. Looks like the club is mostly fiberglass, but the rails are welcome. I usually see the fliers at archway sometime in August. |

Drivers side nerf done. Several tabs welded in. Made a bracket for the power disconnect. Stole the dog collar keeper from jsturtlebuggy"s classified ad.
I can"t believe that I think the old skid plate should work out.

Shoeee momma, got a lot done this last week. Skid plate tabbed and bolted, front upper and lower stops, and some tabs for a future front bulkhead. I've got no tabs and little tubing left, must be time for final welding. Oops, almost forgot about the 1/4 keystock I put on both sides of the beam clamps.

Before finish welding, you should take a wild guess how many hours of welding... or pounds of wire you'll go through. _________________ 4 seater Appletree buggy, road legal with 002 IRS, 3x3 Appletree kit, 6" over Dan's beam with 10" towers and Fox 2.0 shocks, '00 Subaru EJ25 with KEP stage 3 clutch and KEP adapter plate.

Put your old axle stubs to good use, fit great.
Did you paint your calipers? |

My guess is 10 to 15 lbs of wire and maybe 2 evenings.
Every piece that goes back on needs prepped and painted, I think that will take more than 2 evenings.
As long as you are doing a pool, how many cans of spray paint on the frame? |

My welders and my schedules would not cross for several weeks, so I started on my own. Got about 1/4 done so far in 2 afternoons. During the record setting rains and floods I had a floor drain plug failure. Woke up to 5" of water in my walkout, finished basement that had been dry for 15 years. I spent the last 2 days making sure this does not happen again. That was a whole different kind of fun.

4 or 5 sheets drywall and a bundle of steel studs for the 1 wall that came down for access under the stairs. I used the steel studs and indoor/outdoor carpet because this was bound to happen sooner or later. The flood waters are at least a couple miles away. Maybe one of the half dozen bridges between me and the big shitty will reopen tomorrow so I can get back to work. Wasn't how I planned on spending my vacation time. Still planing a day off to drive a couple miles to be in the center of totality for the upcoming eclipse. |
