B pillar structure at upper cargo door hinge

The internal structure is flexing inside my B pillar. Part that the hinge bolts to. There is either a crack or broken spot welds. Definitely does not connect to the outer skin.

I would like to see what it looks like inside before I try to fix it. Maybe I just need to drill a couple holes and weld them in...

B pillar is similar. There are a couple more photos on his web. You can use some screws to pull it together then one by one weld up the screw holes.

I had seen that but hadn't found quite what I was looking for before... did an image search and found a photo that appears to show that the inner plate is just attached to the outer post.

Should just need to drill some holes and plug weld it back. Think the hinge is sprung a bit on the door also so will need to insure that is correct before welding the plate in.

Fixed.

Just drilled some holes, mounted the door to insure alignment and welded the hinge plate to the skin. Nice and solid now.

I know you got it all figured out but I figured I'd post the cross section photo of the B pillar hidden hinge plate from above while I have it cut open.


Just in case anyone else needs this view and to have it all in the same place...
