If they're not genuine VW... makes me a little hesitant to buy a sign... unless I could see it in person or trusted the seller & they were very sign savvy.
Jacco's looks almost exactly like the one Kai posted 9 years ago, on page 3...
The only thing I see different is on Kai's sign... the tails of the "S" are on the same (imaginary) slanted line (I held a little piece of paper up to the screen)... that slanted line coincides at the upper left corner of the "E".
In Jacco's... the sign on the right... the tails of the "S" aren't on the same line.
If Jacco used a fish-eye lens/feature... it might make it look a little skewed... but I'm not a photography guru.
Kai's and Jacco's both have seemingly large mounting holes... which may be normal for some?
This one posted by Petri Nut has the same line for the tails of the "S"... but has the dimpled holes I think we see more.

Accually not enamel, but old VW dealer signs. So I think they fit here anyway
They are definatly old, and the p.o said that thay came of an old vw toolboard?
Anyone seen signs like this before? They are pretty small, the service sign is about 27x18cm
"Motor" is engine in swedish, "verktyg" is tools in Swedish

Hello Porcelain-Forum,
please forgive me maybe im on wrong turn here, but i have to try...
A friend ask me, if there was always and all the time back in the days a Gap between the V and the W in the Volkswagenlogo. Im German, and i know this logo since ca 35 years.
But i was not 100% sure about, sorry;) But i told him YES it was always...
And now i saw that: (picture)
This is an young photo. Its located in arabic-region. Maybe a VW-Citi-Golf from Southafrica. It shows a big black printed "Non-Gap-VW-logo" on the hood.
Is there a chance that my friend more often saw VW-Logos like this? Somebody know about something more about this "NON-GAP-Versions" or is it just selfmade and a "fake"?
Regards Laschko
The picture follows from another device.. 1mmnt pls |

^^ that is the front cover of an application / fitment chart... that's 24 pages long.
Meaning, it's not a porcelain sign (it is a little book, to find the spark plug that fits a vehicle/motorcycle)
You know how when you used to go get an air/oil filter... you'd go back to the rear wall of the auto parts store?.... and you'd look in a little book hanging from a chain....to see which part number you needed?
Ya, that thing.
I think this is about as good as you'll get (which is just about actual size):

Some of my recent finds:
Nice double-sided in English and Afrikaans: (I don't know why my phone pics won't align correctly when I upload to thesamba)
This is a high quality repro (copied from an original):
And I suspect this is an "aged" repro:

Only the 'Martini' sign is Enamel but think the 2 'wooden, hand painted' signs are pretty cool to .

New sign to the collection. This one has a unique form factor (a bit wider and shorter than most) with a German makers mark. Seen this particular sign only twice before in two large collections here on the West Coast.

More of the 'Langcat' reproductions are starting to show up now:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/223180774847?ul_noapp=true
Langcat in Belgium will make any sign for you and since they are an original sign manufacturer, the quality is very high. Just know that these are reproductions. What's interesting on this sign is they are using a makers mark that is similar to those seen on older original signs:
New Sign:
Original Sign:
Just for reference, here is the makers mark I have seen on most of their other new/reproductions:
This makes it clear the sign is a reproduction. The fact they are using the old makers mark on new signs is a bit concerning. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
