We have a 72 Bay Window Deluxe Bus that we are having some body work and paint done to. Looking to do a very pale (almost pastel) blue for the bottom and standard white for the top. It is a bold red at the moment and that isn't going to work for what we need it for.
We are not restricting ourselves to original VW paint colors so I will apologize in advance to the purists but that just isn't something that is important to us. Again, sorry but not looking for a debate on that topic. 
We found a color that we are considering here...

She likes the Honolulu Blue but my body shop said he is having trouble finding a proper code for that. Anyone know of a code her in the US that he could use? Or even a color that is very similar to this with a PPG code?
We aren't married to the color. Looking to resemble the color of a bus that my wife follows on instagram (handle is @theunidenticals). Photo....
Any help in tracking down a color close to this will be much appreciated. Again, doesn't have to be the same. Just a nice solid (not metallic) light, Skye blue. Whatever blue we land on I will get a completed shot of our transformation once it is out of the shop. Thanks for your time! |

marina blue is a very nice color when new, the old chalky paint doesn't do it justice.

Thanks all. Those blues look awesome! We had a few different types of blue (including marina and diamond) sprayed out for us while some of the body work is going on....
After a bit of deliberation we landed on Guinea Blue
LH5K...
Body work is being finished this weekend, early next week, then sand, prime, paint.
We are going with white for the top. Once it's complete and I have all the chrome, lights, handles, etc back on I will post the completed pictures. Thanks again for all your help in giving some great color options! |

Hey All, Just a quick update. Bus is looking better every day. All body work is done, metal coat is being sanded down now. Primer later today and Paint tomorrow. Looking to get it this weekend...Pics coming next week. Have a great Labor Day weekend!
