Saw somewhere were someone had used heavy duty straps and supported it through the windows but it seems it would tweak the doors I'm thinking of building a huge a frame of wood that I can dismantle later bolding it together I have some semis drops that ahold on an aircraft Carrier and getting a chain come along and picking a joker up any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated thank you _________________ 71 westfalia

Here's my old 71 Notch floating in the air.
You could look thru the Ghia forum to find a DIY wooden cart for supporting the body. Those allow working on the rockers and heater channels.
This is what I used when doing the floors.

I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

How did you support the front? I see the back going through the back window and vent windows _________________ 71 westfalia

For the rear, I went thru the rear window, and hooked to the package shelf lip, or went a little further down and back into the hole in the square boxes (can't remember as I've slept since then).
For the front, I wrapped a strap thru the spare tire opening and thru the gas tank opening to make a loop that I attached my chain fall to (I may have wrapped the strap multiple times depending on which strap I used as I have multiples). Using those 3 points to do my lifting. I've lifted 6 different type 3s this way, and that 71 Notch saw the body come off multiple times during construction.
I should mention that I clipped the front of that car too. Pics can be seen in my gallery and in my build thread in my signature. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thank you. I was thinking of wrapping a huge 4" nylon strap to the sub frame part that holds the front beam on and definitely like your idea of the back window out _________________ 71 westfalia

Well if you're removing the body, you don't want to hook to the beam, otherwise you'll be lifting the entire front of the car, pan and all.
Just make a loop thru the spare tire opening and the fuel tank opening, and you'll be good in front. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
