This price looks like a tune-up on a modern car.
Can anyone imagine plunking down 1/5 the cost of a modern car these days? _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

No hair board stuck to the floor pans? Wonder when they started that. My 65 took a day of scraping to get to the floor boards. Beautiful car! Nice find. |
right? Check out the battery tray!

That is exactly what your floor boards are supposed to look like. And, your car looks super dry, so congrats.
Keep up the good work, and keep the updates coming. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

Started restitching my rear seat top. Threading has started to deteriorate. but leatherette is still soft! Plastic piping is also mostly soft. There are a couple of spots where the round part of the piping has started to break away from the part that's sewn to the leatherette. Not too noticeable.

Finished the rear seat. Now I can use it without worrying about it getting worse!

Finally finished repainting my bug. The interior was left untouched. 99% of the seals remain original as well.

Yes this! Also, if you do need to end up replacing the stop, the correct one is pretty thin, about 1/8”. If I’m not mistaken, it’s the same piece that they use to plug the rear apron holes; although I’ve seen several with the much thicker plugs, around 1/4-3/8” long (like the bump stops for the glovebox door). The thicker ones will work, but I feel that it puts more stress on the thermostat when it’s cold and closed so I used the correct thinner one. I’m sorry I don’t remember which thread it was that discussed the proper rubber bump stop, but i do know it is on here, I believe in the oval forum. _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

It's not rubbing anymore once I adjusted it so maybe it's still there. I'll have to look for it because I had no idea it existed! Thanks! |

Thanks for the kind words all! Pulled the motor again this weekend. First rear main seal did not stop the leak. Sleeved the flywheel as it was groved. Took it for a nice cruise and it was bone dry when I got home! Runs like a champ!
