I bought a 71 bug that has been parked under a tree for a long time, any idea how to remove the tree sap from the paint "that works" ? Thanks.

Did a search, could not find anything.

I once questioned a professional car detailed and the answer was "90% rubbing alcohol". Sure enough, the cheapest and the best. Works great on pine sap.

I second the nod to 90% rubbing alcohol. I have used it for years as I have 4 fir trees along my driveway. We call it sap season. Only problem is trying to find any at the stores during this Covid time. Seems everyone bought it all up to make there own hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer works good for removing sap!

I've got one that I learned from a detail shop years ago. Take a hand towel, and get it wet, and then wring it out until its almost dry. Then, put it in a microwave oven for several minutes until its steaming hot. It will be so hot that you need to wear rubber gloves, and before it cools, rub the towel across the surface. I have a huge maple tree in my back yard, and years ago I let my company store an extra company car at my house, and after a few months it looked like a glazed donut! My local car wash recommended this, and it worked great. Best part, it's free!

Gel hand sanitizer if you can find it now. It is mostly alcohol and will stay on the vertical surfaces on the sap. You have to put it on the sap and then let it sit for a bit.

If you care about your car don't park under trees or for that matter power lines where birds hang out. More then likely your paint will be etched underneath.

My wife suggested I use "soft scrub" on a cabriolet that had been sitting under a tree for about 5 years. It worked great.

Took the sap off and didn't scratch the paint. Looked great after a wash and wax. I was surprised also. Tried it on an inconspicuous area first.

Did you put a light on it after the soft scrub since it is an abrasive. I am sure you swirled and scratched the paint but it you park it under a tree and let sap get all over it you probably don't care about your paint condition in the first place.

When i redid my bathroom, i put and AmerCast tube in. The care instructions specifically say not to use Softscrub.
