Yes, privacy issues as well as scammers contacting people with "2nd chance" offers.

The main thing I miss about that is if you knew your friends IDs, you could see what they were bidding on.
It helped me and a couple other people that bought a lot of the same stuff coordinate so we didn't run things up on each other.
Of course that only worked if we weren't sniping it.

I was amused to see someone bidding on a bunch of fisting porn. I didn't shake his hand at the next swap meet. And no, I won't say who it was....

There's a guy on this site that used to buy a lot of domination stuff.

It wasn't someone I have ever met but we used to bid on similar VW-related things years ago so I was watching him for what I missed for a long time to get more search terms.
His listing of wins was VW/VW/VW/Leather underwear/VW/VW/Leather mask
It was pretty consistent with the leather goods too.
I mostly found it funny because I was like how much leather stuff do you need if are you into that?

Over the last couple years I've gotten some pretty good deals on vintage fishing reels on eBay, mostly by waiting until the last second to bid, or cruising through incorrectly categorized stuff. I find it's nowhere near as useful of a marketplace as it used to be.

Interesting reading. I have a few items I’d like to sell, some old drafting/drawing items and GI Joe stuff.
When researching alternatives to E-Bay, it seemed most were not going to suit me, but I think the GI Joe stuff could be sold locally through Craigslist or FaceBook market place easily.

I searched recent completed sales on the drafting items on E-Bay and concluded they are probably worth the effort to list on E-Bay and it seems like the only place I stand of getting enough money to make it worthwhile, even if barely so.

I’m surprised with the complaints about E-Bay, and Craigslist, that no real contenders have emerged.
