Hey I'm wondering if anyone has tried doing a wrap on their hightop? My white top shows way too much dirt, and dead bugs, and maybe I just want a change. I could paint it body color but I'm thinking I might want some sort of pattern up there to do something different. What's the word on wraps?

How long can I expect one to last? (van is kept in a garage and driven on weekends and camping trips)

How durable would it be with surfboards strapped to the roof? Or driving narrow forest roads.

Are they worth the price?

Can you wrap a fiamma to match?

I'll probably call around to get some pricing but I was hoping someone had tried it and could share their experience.

In Portland, I got a quote for $3500 to wrap my pop-top Westy if I agreed to strip everything I could from the exterior to make things easier.

They advised me to expect a 3-5 year life.

Damn, 3-5 years doesn't seem like very long for that much $$$.

I'd love to see a wrapped high-top. My high-top was sprayed with Plastic-dip in 2016 and it looks darn okay today. It wouldn't pass the test for some folks but I'm okay with seam rust, woodland pin stripes and a 30' paint job.

It's by no means a perfect match to Flash Silver but IMHO it looks better than the stark white fiberglass:

My friend was a rep for a shoe company and drove all over the US in a wrapped Sprinter van. He said it looked like crap after about 2 years and that he would never pay to have it done to his personal vehicle.

It's like window tint...there are some good quality ones out there and some poor quality ones.

I imagine a 3M quality wrap would last 10+ years, along with protection for your fiberglass.

You can probably clean, prep and paint your high top yourself much cheaper than a wrap, and have a finish that will last longer. Several folks have successfully done so with the factory pop top. And you can have the color you want!

OP- it's your van, do whatever strikes your fancy!!

That said, maybe try and avoid the Wall of Shame thread.

Hahahaha, I was thinking something a little more subtle like a vintage style blue/grey navy camo. But maybe leopard spots could be in my future. 🤣

Here is my home job until I figure out if I want to paint or not. I bought auto vinyl wrap and cut my own patterns to do an arctic camo look

That article needs to be retitled to The 20 Most Awesome Wraps Ever! I'll bet the author has never owned a car that wasn't beige.
