My aged eyes are having a hard time distinguishing 6s from 8s or even 9s due to the old font that was used for the odometer of the early bus it came from. Seeing thru glare on the glass is enough to whine about, but that font reealy sux.

This isn't so much a whine or rant, but a question for the community.
Has anyone considered a sticky for donating or bartering unwanted or unused parts that others may need?
For instance, I have a perfectly good set of beetle front drum brakes complete with spindles that I took off my original beam that I absolutely don't need and they're taking up space in my shop. in fact, I have the bare beam, torsion arms and steering box, too.
I sent a pedal assembly to a guy in Oregon when I saw that he got screwed on one by some FB market place scammer. He paid the $20 shipping and I helped a member of our "community". I also have two bodies that I bought strictly to cut up to use on mine. It came with some cheap seats, two steering columns and when I got my centerline wheels the guy gave me two boxes of misc parts like switches, a generator, bolts, etc. I would give them to someone who needed anything I had. The Samba classifieds are a good place to find parts, too, but a lot of people on there think their stuff is gold plated.
There are little things that I'm buying that I'm sure someone else has that are still usable and no longer needed by them, but how do you ask for something that would be inexpensive to buy? It sounds cheap, I know but at the same time, it does give a chance to build relationships.
i dunno, does this sound like a dumb idea? |

Sounds like an excellent idea to me! When I was a young fella back in the 70’s this practice was common place. Good on you for helping a fellow gear head. |

Yeah, I take most people at face value till they do me wrong, and I don't like to feel hate. But I REALLY. HATE. SCAMMERS.
So I had something I'd never use. He was happy and I was happy to help. |

I guess there's nothing to stop you posting an ad in the classifieds and just asking for postage costs or 'what have you'.
otherwise it would be up to Everett to decide if a 'freecycle/swaps' section in the classifieds was a goer or not. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut
