Keep that old fire extinguisher as a “Back up” in the house. I had an old extinguisher from the 70s that the PO had in my bus. Some dude set a fire near my fence one night. I grabbed my new extinguisher and the old bus one from the basement. The old one put out the fire. If it was a fire in my house or bus. The new one would’ve been used first. I was amazed a 40 year old extinguisher worked like a champ. But yes. Invest in good extinguishers. Like insurance Wink

Good thought. The material seems solid inside which I understood to mean it would not work. But I guess that's BS based on your story. Either way, I am definitely keeping it for nostalgia!

Just looked at your old extinguisher again. Maybe it is jive. I don’t know. Here is a picture of the ones I grabbed for my fence fire. The one on the right, is the old school one. Good extinguishers can be checked and recharged (For awhile). Pretty sure my old one from the PO didn’t have it check out. Possibly, he didn’t even know it was buried under the jump seat next to the mini floor Jack from the 80s. Laughing

Inspired by Vanuber on the previous page, I decided to purchase the ABC version of his extinguisher. Wanting to mount it in the stock location without drilling holes, I decided to 3D print an adaptor. Happy to send over an STL file if you would like to print one for yourself. This is the MX250 extinguisher, from the looks of it the HalGuard version cradle appears the same.

Wait, what, is Halon still allowed in the US? Banned in the EU (except in aircraft, military use and the Channel Tunnel) back in 2003 - it's a nasty ozone layer depleter. Its manufacture has been banned since 1994.

Didn't know that. With the name Halguard I just assumed it was Halon. Edited my post.

Looks nice... but is that 3D printed piece strong enough to keep that extinguisher from breaking it apart and punching a rear passenger in the chest/face in the event of a collision from the rear?

It's now Halotron. I have a 5 lb one mounted behind the driver's seat where I can reach it as soon as I get out of the bus.
Expensive but worth it.
