What makes the '67 trim one year only?

Like this?

Im not sure why people think this is 1967 specific, because it isn’t. I had an all original ‘55 oval that had it, among other super original early cars that also had it.

Got a pic of it?

I had a '59 with the same overrider. I am pretty sure it was original to the car. I think this was a detail of the early overriders and was gone by the early 60s. That was probably a junkyard find that ended up on that car.

Isn't the width the same as 68 on?

Width is the same, length is not for the hood trim.

67 only 10x999mm
68-72 10x935mm

67 only 10x999mm
68-72 10x935mm

When they chopped the bottom of the front hood off so they could install the higher "Europa" bumpers in '68, they had to raise the hood handle so the trim was shortened accordingly.

Sorry, the width is different than the earlier (correct length) trim.
Yes, the later trim is the same width but the incorrect length.

Ok, I'm going to step into this. I've only read about half of this in a few night as I have a short attention span. What a treasure trove of information. I have been the owner of a '67 Vert for over 25 years that I've never driven. Kids Family and work have gotten in the way. Now retired and cleaning decades of crap and parts to get down to my vert, and making sure I'm not missing anything. I have the original ending case and a lot of the little parts. hope to keep this going through a Noobs eyes.
Thank you all.

[quote]Hi, I have a request for a fellow 1967 Bug owner for some measurements.

I would like to get approximate measurements (A, B and C in the picture below) so that I can 3D print that part. As always, I will post the design in my 3D Printed Parts thread so that others can use it as well.

A = Width at the widest point. 30.30mm
B = Height from the bottom to the top. 13.68mm
C = Length of the indentations on the side. 7.80mm
Bonus if I can please get the width of the indentation as well. .85mm

Thanks in advance.

In all disclosure. These measurements are from a WW repop window crank knob.
I checked the measurements on a stock knob too. They are very close.

@67rustavenger, thanks for the measurements.

I designed the 1967 window crank handle knob. It looks and fits great. Here is a link for anyone who wants to print one.

Thanks.

I've asked for info about this elsewhere, but haven't yet received any definitive answers as to the purpose and "one-year-only status" of this feature/anomaly.
I'm hoping i'll have better luck here in this thread with all you knowledgeable '67 owners Smile

The "bulge" in the rear valence....does it only exist for 1967 year model cars? what was it's purpose?
