Hi all Samba members,

found some new heads that are going to hit the market, Revmaster Doug Gonzalez DG 063 heads, anyone have some infos about those ?

Provide some nice ports, 10 fins, large chambers but with lots of quench area.

Found those on Facebook and on revmaster website.

Have some of you got some more infos ? (possible valve size versions, chamber volume, port volume, pricing etc etc) those look to be nice for big cc busses engines.

You can look at some pictures in this Facebook publication :

Shaun Mccarthy facebook post

Heads on Revmaster website

Thanks

I have 2 pairs of them here.

They are REALLY nice. Doug did a really good job with the small details.

This first batch came without the seats or guides pressed in, so that still needs to be done, and then the seats need to be cut.

They are set up for 40x35, with smaller volume, well designed ports, a really good heart shape chamber, and a ton of material over the intake ports. They will make great castings for larger valves also.

I am up to my eyeballs in multiple projects, but I am hoping to get a valve job done on one pair, and get them tested here soon.

I think these are gonna upset quite a few of the other head manufacturers. I think these will end up being the street head that 80% of guys on here really should have on their 2110-2276cc street engine. I am guessing killer airspeed, great chamber, lots of cooling, and a nice sturdy casting. They are very heavy, and the casting is really high quality. Not an overly huge, pokey airspeed CNC head.

Aside from installing the seats and guides, and doing the valve job, they will need very little work. Very slight bowl blending is all. Nothing like the huge bowl ridges in the other 40x35 as-cast heads.

Doug is planning to sell them ready to bolt-on, with the valve job done. This first batch came to him with loose parts for people to do some testing. More are on the way.

Brian, are they that much better than the AA502 bare heads for my 1717cc 90.5 bore road race project? We are just about to port the 502s but haven't yet.

We really want to start bare and pick out own parts.

Overall, they are much nicer than a 502. AND they have the good chamber and an extra fin. . Available material for porting is similar. I also think the revmasters have a much better shaped port to start with. The 502 shape isn’t my favorite, and I wish they would have filled some of the dead areas when they were making the mold for the 502. .

The 502 will have plenty of material for what you need to do though.

How do these heads compare to the old Revmaster 049 heads they made a few years ago?

Lots of potential there. Essentially a closed chamber head, but having the valves deeper in the chamber gives more room for air flow. Lots of Quench area, its a awesome chamber.

Extra fins for cooling, and they are clean with good flow through.

Would love to see these ported to stage 3 level, a fun street/race set of heads.

Curious if Performanceworkshop (Tims) received a set of these heads to check out? Hmmmm!

Pretty much clean slate. Same alloy as the old ones, but these have a ton more material over the intakes, the new chamber, and the ports are reshaped. One extra cooling fin also.

I've used a few sets of 049s on engines including my street buggy's 1904. If these new castings are even better WOW!!

Wow those look great. Really the commentary related to them looking MORE promising than the 502 is encouraging, because I have the 502 and am having great luck with them. ( I killed them once with 6500RPM and a few pounds of sand but I brought them back to life. Cool ) In time I'm sure I'll shift over to these 063s on my 2176cc N/A engine when they start showing up complete.

Super cool to see stuff like this showing up. I feel like we're pretty well at a point where I could gather a solid group of medium/high quality parts for a higher end street engine going beyond the usual garden variety EMPI-flavored selection at a slightly elevated but palatable price.

I will be finishing one pair I have here soon. I will install the provided seats, and guides, and then do my standard 4 angle valve job, and see how they measure up. I believe the port volume will be similar to the corrected 502, and the flow should be up there as well, if not better. These heads have more potential for a normal guy than the 502's.

Doug will be working on installing the seats and guides, and doing the valve job on them. He is not selling them to the general public as bare heads. They should be available to order as a finished ready to run head here soon.

I have these 062's, a new set of Tims S1's, some corrected panchito's, and some corrected 502's.

I don't really have the time, but I was hoping to do an available 40x35 head flowbench and measurement shootout. Provide REAL info, like the average FPS, port volume, valve/seat ratios, E/I flow ratio etc. This will be much more informative than only showing inflated CFM numbers from advertisers. My tests would all be done on the same bench, with a manifold, same test pressure etc....

I can email Roy, and Empi, and see if they want to loan me a head for a test as well.

The ultimate would be to build a 2276cc, fk8, 44's, and run them all on my dyno, but that would be a massive, messy, and long undertaking, and I have WAY to much other paying work to do right now.

Brian, I know I just sent you those heads to flow, and if you can't get ahold of Roy, I have some brand new 050s of his sitting here I never used in 40x35s.

Cool.

I will ask Roy first, and see if he wants to be part of it.

Did you have to clean up any flash in the cooling fin area or is it clean?
