I bought that 110 model bug I was taking about so if you need some parts let me know or watch the classifieds. _________________ '70 ghia

I wish someone would edit the title on this thread. We may have some controversy going about whether to call it by any or all of the names:
1975
Basic
110
Model 110
Bug
Beetle
But the one thing it is NOT is a SPECIAL EDITION. |

I put a small headliner in my 75. Yes i had to buff the metal claws and put a TMI standard headliner from earlier year beetle that are not anymore available. I had to cut it a couple of inches but it fit fine at then end...

Yeah I wouldn't mind the roof panel either. Does anyone know if the early model panel will fit a newer Bug? |
The problem with trying to retrofit a bug w/o that from the factory is that you would have to shave the metal claws that run down the door rear B pillars..and that's just for starters...holes for rear popouts if you do not have them...etc..I'm smoothing my entire interior for that look right now

If you were to order some houndstooth cloth for the seats, how much do you need for the two front seats and the back seat both back and bottom? I don't want to under order.
My plan was to order the fabric and a set of the better TMI seat covers. I would take the flat panels off the covers and use them as templates to cut out replacement panels from the houndstooth fabric. Once that is done I can re-sew the fabric panels back to the covers in place of the leatherette ones I took off. Luckily my brother has an industrial sewing machine for upholstery automotive use along with the stronger thread needed to do this.
To me it beats paying huge $$$ to a custom interior guy to do basically the same thing. _________________ 1970 Campmobile Click to view image

Nice!! ^^
Using toyvergnugen's advice for searching around in some Camaro suppliers, I've came across three websites that carries the Houndstooth upholstry. With two of which that are for automotive purposes.
http://www.yourautotrim.com/hobl.html
http://store.yahoo.com/discountfabricsusa/hobwh.html
http://www.miamicorp.com/default.aspx?page=Item%20Search%20Results
Item ID # HT9140 in the first page result. (this link may or may not work, or you'll have to type in 'Houndstooth' in the search box).
These are the only companies to be found so far that carry this material, so there may be other suppliers out there.
I don't know if any of these would be close to the original or not..
Thanks again toy! _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

Why not check out some of the Chevy Camaro cloth suppliers to see if it is sold by the yard. I think it may be a little smaller houndstooth than the VW type (I am working on memory here) but it might be a nice subtitution if there is no replacement for the VW. Just a thought. |

Nice score on the parts car interior find, 19super73. Hope that it will be in good usable condition. That Houndstooth fabric is hard to find! _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

I know I'm bringing back a long dead post but I got really excited to see the interior shots of the 110. Now I have something to build off of as I have started to work on my wife's 110. The Po's PO redid the interior and got rid of the houndstooth and there are different door cards. I want to peel back the fabric on them to see if they just recovered the original door cards and basic original is underneath. I hope so.
On the bright side, I just struck a deal on a '75 Standard parts car with all good fenders and hoods with...wait for it...the OG intact houndstooth interior!!!!! I'm stoked to go pick it up. _________________ 1970 Campmobile Click to view image

Let alone let them tell you that all late beetles came with over the hump rubber mats. I want some real mats like pictured!! At least they have the felt carpet and not the square weave everyone says all came with. |
Yeah really!. You can still get the felt style carpet from some place's, but mostly will have the backing (which is not OG), cotton binding, and the length for that foot rest. A couple of place's has the felt carpet, such as sewfine and aircooled.net in which you can choose the binding in vinyl instead of cotton, and without the f/r length. But i don't know yet if any of those has that backing junk. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!
