Final followup: today, 13 days after the last reply from Tom, 29 days after I reported the problem, I got a crumpled $20 & $10 bill wrapped in a newspaper in an envelope without a note. _________________ ‘86 GL 2-knob Syncro Weekender w/ Subaru EJ25

Followup on previous post — sadly not in a good way.
To recap, this transaction happened originally before Christmas. I let Tom know about the damage on Dec 21 and heard back on Dec 23:
Quote:
That sucks can send you 30.00 back
I wrote back within the half-hour to thank him for his offer and to give him info on how to wire me the money.
A week later, still nothing. Wrote again. Tom said on Dec 30:
Quote:
Will be back in havasu Sat and will sen d
Six days after that, nothing. Wrote again. Tom said a day later on Jan 6:
Quote:
sending tomorrow sorry about delay
Here we are three days after that. I'm not holding my breath. _________________ ‘86 GL 2-knob Syncro Weekender w/ Subaru EJ25

Happy to provide more details, but currently dealing with this awful packing job and zero response from Tom, the seller.
As advertised:
As received (there was a flat paper towel and an empty plastic bag on top):
The part that makes me the saddest is that these fairly rare old car parts survived decades only to be destroyed by carelessness.
I wish I'd known about this thread before I got involved. _________________ ‘86 GL 2-knob Syncro Weekender w/ Subaru EJ25

Well let's see. I bought a parts lot of misc carburetor bodies and some other stuff. I called him up and paid him. About a week later I received everything.
Packing sucked. Not sure what laying flat newspaper on top of everything in the box does? Especially with heavier parts like this . Anyways when I got the stuff some of the carb bodies had chunks broken off. So I called him and I was told I would get a refund. But didn't want to cover shipping ( close to $50 one way)
Anyways I sent the stuff I bought from him back and never heard from him again or received any type of refund like he said he would.
Thankfully everything with the paypal dispute went well.

Paid on the 15th. Items arrived safely and as pictured/described on the 19th. Would have been even quicker, but for the weekend.
Thanks! |

Bought a pair of popout frames from Tom. They were much nicer than the pictures or the description indicated. I am very pleased. Thanks Tom! _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

I have done many deals with Tom over the last few years and each time the deal went through flawlessly. Often he will hold the parts for me and will do his best to ensure that the advertised parts come my way.
The latest deal was even better. He included some extra nice parts which will come useful for me. Tom, I really appreciated your gesture and if you ever come this way the parts will be here to say 'Thank you Tom. You made this possible'

I called Tom from here in Florida on Sunday evening to ask if he still had his 019 Distributor for sale. He replied yes and that it was still installed on his engine. I was still traveling and when I arrived home about 2 hours later I email Tom to verify his Paypal Verified Email address. He replied promptly and I sent him a payment including shipping. Tom said it would be in the mail today. When I arrived home about an hour ago which happens to be Thursday, there was a package delivered here from Tom. It was the distributor I had ordered and it was very well padded and looks better than the photo that was listed in the ad. Thank you Tom for being so prompt in packaging and shipping this out to me. I'm happy and would buy from you again. _________________ ........... _╒═══╕_JimDandy.and.EMPI-Titelock.

Ordered a hoover bit from Tom, overall time from initial email to receiving the product was less than 5 days. Very easy to work with and great shipping. Product was exactly as described as well.
