i guess there is no such big difference. i know on beetles you can have issues with the joints when going really low. but using it at type 3 will also work pretty good.
the bag sits in the center:

So sexy. Those wheels are great on there. What would be the difference in going with a link pin vs ball joint? I'm thinking of doing a type 1 beam and i'm not sure which to go with. Is your single bag in the center or on one side? _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

here i my 69 squareback someone posted a pic on the first page of it when lowindo had it.
when i got it, it had a prototype KCW 6 inch beam clamped to the frame head!! this is what it looked like when i managed to drive it home!!
now heres what it looks like now... or atleast while i was welding the new brackets to it as you can tell its not fully bolted up!!
and finally here it is at perdido key in florida this was taken on the way back from bugjam. i drove it from ocean springs MS to bugjam and back with very little problem even with my girlfriend!!
this car has a 6inch beam but has half inch spacers and then wheel adapters on the front and is currently under going a wide 5 conversion on the rear!! |
Any idea how it is lowered in the rear? |
yup I made 3inch drop hubs for the rear ill have to post pics of it now. before it was just riding on the bump stops! |

| Yes i could clearance the calipers, Cut the bolts that hold the wheels together, and run a thinner spacer. I think I would still need a little more room too. Control arms may be the answer. Thanks. |

russel at Old Speed was doing narrowed type3 control arms. from memory i think they are 1" per side. best bet might be to contact him unless you want to go narrowed beam.
could you "clearance" the calipers and run a thinner spacer to avoid some of the width. _________________ ITMC

| Brand new here, but Ive had a few squarebacks over the years. I have a chopped 69 squareback now, that I'm working on. I have a set of old school two piece aluminum race wheels that I want to use. The wheels rubbed the calipers so I put spacers on to solve that problem, which now makes the wheels rub the fenders. Any suggestions other than a narrowed beam, or is a narrowed beam my only option? Im in Nor. Ca. who make the best beam packages? I need at least 2 inches to clear everything. |
